Yeah it probably should be knocking down 20+ on a regular basis.

 

On the highway; 17-18 MPG around town with the amount of idling I do is acceptable in my opinion...

 

As crazy as it sounds every Tacoma l have ever owned does worse on the highway than in everyday driving, go figure.

 

Opposite for me, and my truck actually does better on the highway with mid-grade than with regular; I experimented with this while driving locally too, and while putting mid-grade helped on the highway it did not make a difference around town...

 

My 1st Gen Tacoma was so damn consistent with MPG's that l still remember the number, it damn near always hand calculated to 21.67 in everyday driving but out on the highway it only got around 19. Both of my 2nd Gens averaged about 2 MPG's less on the highway too and the current one does about 1 or 2 less on highway drives.

 

@PennSilverTaco When my Mustang was in bone stock configuration l knocked down 27 MPG on a road trip to PA, that was pretty impressive.

I’m trying to go back to sleep for an hour or so, then I’m gonna bring the furry dingus known as Porter to Fonthill Castle to play in the snow...

 

Mine is mixed but usually 20 around this time of year with the winter fuel. Current reading is about 16 but that's a fresh fill 4 days ago plus having it idling for awhile Thursday while cleaning up the angel puke.

I forget if you have one but I love my Ultragauge, using it I am sure it's better than 1mpg versus my hand calculations because I don't leadfoot it

Mine can nail 24 on the highway at 70-75 easy

 

It kinda depends on how hard l drive it, but if l just drive it normally then it will knock down around 21 or 22 in everyday driving. But I usually thrash on it here and there to have some fun so realistically around 19 or 20.

 

Wow that's good highway MPG, these 3rd Gen V6's are a little thirsty at higher speeds. Another thing I noticed about these trucks is they become super responsive above 70, really wants to take off with even minor throttle input.

 

My friends like to ask why a 4 banger..simple, I'm not towing so I don't need it. Not that I could get a single with a V6.
