On my last weekend out during rifle season I was able to take my largest buck to date. He was following two doe. I had been watching two doe for some time and was trying to decide which doe to take when I finally saw him. Thankfully I saw him when I did and let the doe walk.

just talked to a taxidermy bud. he has done them.cuts the hide, pulls out bone an usuaes a form for them. not much meat in them. said you could tie em in 90* angle and place cut off on leg in salt. may work but he wasnt sure if they would have an odor. looks like curing salt would help.

Awesome thanks..you read my mind too. I through them in the freezer a couple hours ago. I've got a really good taxidermist i might just have him do both sets. I could always use the other as a gift

Went and picked up Cole’s meat from the processor, heard him telling a guy he usually has around 80 deer donations a year, this year he’s had 8.

Guess people are afraid to buy meat, I don’t know.

First deer I ever killed was a doe with a little unicorn horn like this but a bit larger. I’ll have to see if I can get pics anywhere. I killed it in 2013 (kinda cool I can go back on the app to check in Missouri) but the head might still be in my grandpas freezer. I finally have a buck I need to do a euro mount on so maybe she will go in with him if she is still around.

This is so weird. I am still not seeing any deer on my lease. I've heard about 5 gunshots today all around me. But nothing here. Side note, I was out here on Wednesday for a day trip to get some work done and a afternoon hunt. I put out a bunch of corn. It was still there untouched when I got to the lease last night and was still untouched today. Just baffling.

Awesome and congrats on the recent deer! Little tip if you plan on doing the euro. The first 30-45min of the boil i use a scoop of oxyclean. Just make sure you tape the bottom few inches of the antler. This really helps cut the boil time down and makes getting the brain matter out much easier.

I’m not complaining, but my season ended not quite the way I’d like. I was freezing balls this morning in my blind. Had a few does and yearlings at my feeder and decided I’d shoot a doe because I have one more day of
Hunting to get a buck. Welp, had a clear neck shot and fired. Doe down. Sweet! Wait, what’s that to the right, another doe limping away. Her rear knee gone. I could not let her suffer. So now I am tagged out. Thankful for a freezer full of deer meat.

I’ve been replaying the shot in my mind all day. I alway make sure nothing is behind a deer when I shoot. I’m not sure if I didn’t see her in the brush or it the bullet exited a different direction and hit her.
