More importantly how did you mount them and to what? Or are they just for show?

    Like I said, Whoopee!
What is their safe working load? Nowhere near the strength of the shackle I'm sure.
Are you gonna be doing recovery in reverse (for others), or are you figuring your Taco won't be able to get itself out of a fix?
Are they attached directly to the frame (couldn't tell from the pics online)?
What happens if you use only one for a tough pull?

They're just a macho show thing more than they are seriously useful & practical (IMNTBHO).

People can add shit to their vehicles for aesthetic. Nothing wrong with that. 2020 was rough enough, we don't need more bullies.

Normally I’d agree, do what you want. But safety doesn’t fall into that category, it actually it’s pretty dam dangerous to add recovery points that aren’t up to the task. Imagine the truck owner has some form of accident and and is not around and some else needs to recover vehicle, (even if it’s just pulling it onto flatbed), shackles break and now vehicle is rolling uncontrollably ready to hit anything around it. That’s just flat out dangerous.

Now I have no idea if those shackles are up to vehicle recovery or even basic vehicle pulling or not, but please don’t liken safety items to aesthetic crap like Raptor lights or some such. Recovery points that are for show, are like having an empty fire extinguisher around, just fucking worthless and more importantly dangerous.

Yeah, okay - so they're just for show. Like I said, "They're just a macho show thing more than they are seriously useful & practical."
But the fact remains that their presence means at some point they might actually get used. The shackles themselves likely have far greater capacity than the bracket they're attached to. Not concerned about the shackles failing as much as the potential for damage to the brackets or the truck's frame if they DO get used. If they were paper machete or plastic shackles I wouldn't have commented. As mutely said:

I wouldn't install ANY item on my Taco that could be used in a recovery if it, and its attachment, weren't up to the task.

Okay pop pop. I just got off the phone with him. I told him he has to hop on here and get a written permission slip from both of you guys before he's allowed to use it in a recovery, not one or the other, BOTH of you. I also told him he has to use a scale in-line so as not to exceed the safe working load. Lemme know if I missed anything.

I've said it before, I'm still waiting for an "I ripped my front end off" thread. So, let's just let it happen.

I didn't know that you could get QS color matched shackles.

EDIT: I know I'm being cheeky but at least in this config he can use both points for a soft pull. Depends on how strong that sub frame is.

Looks to me like the shackle bracket connects to the cross member in front of the radiator. Not exact a very stout member.

You can wind up with this kind of result:

Do as you want - it's your Taco and your $$$. Don't need my permission or sign-off on what you do. Just be prepared for any possible consequences.

Ya gotta realize that when you put a post on here showing what you've done to your Taco, you may not get an "Atta Boy" from everyone here.
Yeah, okay it looks "tough" or "mean" - but it is nowhere near as functional as appearance suggests.

Yeah but that's my point. None of you know homeboys use case. Truck could be 100% on road driven 5k miles a year. Agreed, one should use something suited for recovery IF they're using it for recovery.
