A real-world freeze test today on my SS3 Pro fogs. -16 and just absolutely puking snow for my ~45 minute drive to the ski hill. Fog lights were on the whole time, and next to them you can see the BD Squadrons which were off. About 1/8in of ice built up on the face, while the Diode Dynamics remained completely clear.

 

These have an interesting design. Also claim to be SAE/DOT compliant.

Haven't seen those before. Those 3 rib vertical bar lights are a style often used by JW Speaker, and capable of SAE compliant patterns. The price point of being under $60 shipped gives me serious pause though that they’d be anything worth while.

Hey is it me or do the faceplates of the SS3 appear to have gotten more angular? For example, here are my square driving bezels compared to the fogs above.

 

Great observation, I had missed that. You are correct.

Yes, there was a redesign of the outer bezel for styling purposes. It does not affect output in any way.

 

@Diode Dynamics Will backlighting be added to the SS3 pods in the future?

I like the redesign better.

 

Cutoff is stellar and I’m pleased to report it’s not as green as Baja lights, and actually looks closer to what my Pro’s are (camera made it look more green than seen from the eye)

You need a 4MM Hex BTW.

 

If you turn it on the output is drastically higher. Or you can open it up to see the emitters, but otherwise just looking at the external body, yes.

 

That's unfortunate for the 2nd hand SS3s buyers. It would have been nice to see it etched in somewhere on the body without having to look at the PCB/emitters.
