    Unfortunately, nothing.

I stopped by my LGS, and I’ve never bought ammo there before, but I have to give them credit they did have a lot in stock. But the 9mm was $45 for a 50-round box, .223 was $20 for a 20-round box, and they actually told me that I wouldn’t like the price of the .380 because they had to pay premium retail price just to get some in, so I didn’t bother asking the price on those. They had a Ruger 10/22 for $330, but no .22LR ammo. I may go back and get that Ruger, because I don’t have a small caliber rifle, and I think I could do the most customizing with the Ruger because of all the aftermarket stuff out there for those.

I know the dad of the owner, and he told me they were actually getting a shipment in of imported ammo, which is actually US ammo that was exported, then sold back to his shop. I have no idea how much that ammo will cost.

It’s the same here with the small shops, their ammo is high because they can’t buy the volume like the big stores and get it cheaper. I hate it for the small shops just trying to make a living.

I have consistently had reasonable ammo on my shelf. The key is the person who is in charge of purchasing at the small shop has to build a relationship with distributors and spend time calling them every single day.

I don’t get the volume that a place like academy does, but I’m priced the same or less

my business partner calls every single one of our distributors at least once a day to see what we can get. We buy it if it’s reasonable and skip it if it’s not.

In addition to that; it would be a good idea to not stop regardless if carrying or not. When I took CC class the instructor put a lot of focus on confrontation avoidance. It just gives her or anyone for that matter, a little piece of mind.

We have two small gun stores near us. One always has ammo, it’s higher than it should be but they are selling it.

The other store is over priced and their ammo shelves are almost bare. What they do have you can’t afford it.

I have a MASSIVE store in my same town that I originally thought we wouldn’t compete with...but turns out we do...and I’m regularly getting customers coming in telling me about how high things are over there

I’m 10 minutes from an Academy and their gun counter employees shop with us except for ammo

the other store is just taking advantage of people at this point under the guise of something...like last week they were all over social media about the most recent taboo for TW gun topic, but they sure did pull the items off their shelf in front of customers in the store...their guns are all marked at MSRP or higher...and my normal prices are better than what they posted for Black Friday sales

When I buy a gun, it’s from the small stores. The prices are better and you get that one on one experience and the owner or people who work there actually know what they’re talking about if you have questions :D

and your small store appreciates it. In my shop, it’s me, my business partner, and we have 2 employees who started as customers from the early days when we were lucky to sell 2 guns a week. They appreciate what we are and work hard to keep exactly what you said.

no, we don’t have everything and we can’t always beat prices...but we’re damn sure gonna try and if we don’t have it and get multiple requests we’ll usually add it

Two small stores near me and I've purchased firearms from both. It's nice to have shops local and if everyone went to the big store we would lose the convenience of having a shop local. The one shop owner though kind of cantankerous at times...catch him on the right day he's cool, other times like grumpy. I was looking for a Ruger Predator in .308 he quoted me a price (didn't have on hand) and basically said go buy it somewhere else. ??? I think he's ready to retire.

They changed their policy a couple of months ago, but not all stores got the message.

We’re generally nice too, but all of us can get that way lately

my shop phone does not stop ringing with people asking about 9 or 380...it gets old fast and can make it difficult some days to be pleasant to everyone
