Polo was/is a nasty little hot hatch. LOT's of fun. I wanted one of the VW Corrado's, little super charged fun car.

The newer models the more high strung they made the engines the higher the probability they were going to go out in a blaze of glory.

Even knowing this didn't stop them from selling and being a hell of a lot of fun to flog around. :D

I don’t like how you have to spend upwards of $80k on a German vehicle that’ll be able to beat a stock $40k Mustang GT. My brother has already smoked an M3 and just barely beat an M5

These days I prefer Mercedes V-8 sedans over the Bimmer ones.

My logic is... if it doesn’t have an MB star ornament, it ain’t classy like a Mercedes should be. Of course my logic isn’t counting the AMG models

Just realized foreign markets get the E200. Basically bottom of the barrel E Class

Difference is everything else in the car. :)

American cars have gotten nicer over the years but few live up to the luxury put into these cars. Not to mention the silly amount of engineering put into German cars.

Mustangs, Camaro's and Challengers are all fast in a straight line and have gotten a little better on road courses but that's where these high end cars really shine. Drive a low end Benz and a higher end american car and the low end Benz usually feels like a completely different car.

Well you're paying for quality and the name. A mustang is not great if you want to quality compare. Plus those gt's aren't going to perform as well on a track. For a real comparison it's gt350 to m3. Comparable price and performance. One has a manual. Then we'll be discussing how garbage the hellcat is compared to other cars with much less horsepower. It's about power delivery. Hell my parents polestar tuned xc60 can smoke most sports cars, but i wouldn't say it's better. All in all, i agree....but I'm biased

I can agree with the maneuvering quality difference in both cars. Quality is a so-so for me. I’ve seen improved build quality and reliability in domestic vehicles and I’m certain it has surpassed German vehicles by now

For some...in the luxury market yes, but standard performance cars for domestic are pretty garbage compared to their counterparts. Fit and feel is very different

Domestic has improved, surpassed well I guess it depends on what you look at. Porsche is still #1 in the world on that front last I read.

I was going to comment on the excellent Tesla build quality but I can't do that with a straight face.

The people who buy them though will argue how great it is even as their door handles won't pop out, their rear bumper covers are falling off and the glue that holds their roofs on fails with said roof flying off. :)

Even in the luxury market it's hard to say. Some of the newer domestic are awesome, the new Navigator and the Escalade are really nice but again those are $100k vehicles again.

Yep they are, but then again you're getting into luxury market (and i despise most of them) but if you're talking base challenger/charger/mustang/camaro to 3series/c class/etc the differences are noticeable. I'll take a quality interior with good performance over straight performance and meh interior

All this aside, give me a 71 challenger r/t 69 camaro ss, a late 50's corvette and the AMG hammer or EVO II.

Exactly. I consider the Big 3 cars to be the Blunt Force hammer method. Take the Dodge Demon. That thing is brutal and fast and an adrenaline rush waiting to happy. It will never be confused for a luxury car interior though. :)

    Anyone seen my wallet?
im a big fan of the 16+ mustangs, they are a great bang for buck "sports car" with respectable power numbers but i have a hard time believing a GT pulled a late model M3 or M5. My 2009 cobb tuned 135I i had made easy work of most everything that wanted a piece. I can only remember a couple cars that gave me trouble, a CTS-V and a 911 Turbskie.

Oh hell ya, I so want to build an old resto muscle car with a modern drivetrain.

Something that is totally bad ass looking and that I can drive anywhere, anytime.

Ain't no shame in getting taken apart by a 911 Turbo. :)

That's a bucket list car for me.
