    ummm .....ya.

Lol lived there twice in my life...well the outer reaches of Scarborough. First was in the late 80's up on Steeles I guess you could say it was Markam. Not down in the lovely bowels...Kennedy and Lawerence comes to mind! Then again in 92-93 but I was out in West Hill which had its moments as well.
You have to pick your spots in "The D" for sure..there are some ok spots but for the most part its gone for a shit. I still like the pubs on Layfette and Greektown was a buzz back in the day...now its out to the Burbs. Covid has certainly limited my time over there...thankfully.

Quick question...anyone running an aftermarket flap set up. I'm looking to try to keep a flap on once I go with bigger rubber.
Looking at a bit bigger tire than stock on a 0 offset. I'm thinking a 285/65 or 70/17.
It could be a pipe dream but I know a lot of the aftermarket ones are much thinner than stock.

Maybe with a 255/85 tire you could keep the flaps but not too sure with a 285. I lost mine while offroad (stock) so not too sure.

I used some Sparco ones when I wanted flaps in the beginning.

    Sparco 03791NR

They are cut to your size type, very thin. I had to attach some aluminum pieces to them to keep them weighted down in the back on the highway. The passenger one touched my exhaust tip when I had one with out the weights.

You can see them in this pic, duno who's truck that is tho :anonymous:

I was kinda thinking that eventually I would end up ripping them off anyhow?
I'm just thinking with a wider tire and some more "poke" I'm a gonna throw a shit ton at my paint. Not sure why all of a sudden I am worried about it. Age maybe?
Reguardless, The aftermarket "rally style" flaps ain't cheap and It would be a pisser just to rip them off.

I have a lot of poke on my truck and haven’t found the paint to take too much of a beating. I do have sliders that do block some of it though.

Here are pictures of my RokBlokz XL flaps. I don't have 285s but it looks like they tolerate inner fender plastic trimming (especially the protruding part) as long as you can keep the fender flare holes. The bottom mounting point attaches to the cab mount with an L-bracket and well nut. Even after a cab mount chop, you can flip the L-bracket around and use the aft hole.

I had to modify my OEM flaps with a 255/85/16 tire on a -12mm offset. (oh an obviously had to fold the pinch welds over as a just incase, and deform the OEM inner fender so the tire doesn't catch it since i've not lifted the truck yet and i'm on TRD OR shocks and springs)
Canuk, you might need to do some trimming - but i'm running the OEM ones as a daily flap without issues (other than rubbing for a second when i turn)

If i want to run an auxiliary wire to the battery, do I just undo the positive terminal and connect a wire underneath? Do I need to disco both terminals? This is with a fuse/relay included already.

As long as you don’t short the wire you are fine. Just have the auxiliary wire hooked up to what ever it is running. The last step should be connecting to power. You did mention fused and what not already so that’s your safety net.

I removed mine before even hitting the trails. Once I went to 285's they got in the way so I got rid of them to keep things simple. Now on skinnies, it's not a big deal.

    1. If you disconnect just the positive terminal, reconnecting it will often cause a spark. Most of the time this doesn't cause harm. If you disconnect both positive and negative terminals, then reconnect the negative last, there won't be a spark.
    2. If you lift up the red rubber cover on the positive terminal, there's a 1/4" stud for easy attachment of aux wires. Just crimp an eyelet to the aux wire and bolt it on. Don't actually need to loosen the battery terminal.

Had to get LED light bar button since they don’t make forward camera button.
Also ran a fuse to the battery wire, hope 20 amp is enough.

So I've attached the wire, the switch turns the lights on and off, no Illumination on the switch when off. Do I have to worry about any power drain? Nothing is lit when the truck is off but the lights will turn on without ignition/accessory. Is it the relay that stops it from being hot all the time?

where is the relay? your switch should be powering the relay which would let the power continue through to your lights.

not sure about a direct switch, but i can't imagine any power drain.
i have 6 switches going to fuses and relays which then go throughout the system and the only drain i have is 1 switch in the bed which is just the red LED constantly on to locate the button in the dark
the lights turning on with the engine off is normal. since you are bypassing the computer of the truck and powering things directly off of the battery.

if you want the switch to be dead when the truck is off - then you will need to fuse the switch to the OEM fusebox (tap fuse would be easiest as you would piggyback off of something else) and then continue on to the switch. (you are providing the switch power from the tap fuse which would then power the relay

    upload_2020-12-21_21-7-0.jpg
This way, if the truck is off - the tap fuse will not power the switch that will then not power the lights because the relay is not powered/ turned on.

do you have any photos of the system you're working on right now?
i can swing by if you need someone to check it
