I've heard people say good things about that lift. I had Icon's on my Tacoma. What are you going to do with your Tacoma? overland, off-roading, work truck, etc?

just installed this lift on my truck. I'm very happy with it so far. I ordered mine through headstrong offroad. They have the best setup on their website in regards to the options with the kit. I opted to have them pre-assemble the front shocks so it was plug and play on my end.

24 years on my OME lift on my LC. Shocks are terrible so I went with TJM longs. But OME came with the truck. I'd get TJM if I had the choice.

886’s, 90000’s, jba uca’s, ecgs, Fox 2.0 resi's and Icon rxt mediums in rear, wheelers super bumps, softopper, warrior products roof rack, smittybilt 10k, 255/85r16’s, coastal offroad front bumper, diff breather and a couple stickers
I have put over 40,000 miles on this setup and I’m off-road 3/4 times a week. Not just BLM or FS roads either. It hasn’t let me down once. The only time I had problems was with the ome coils and 5100’s. I’m not bashing 5100’s cause I love the way they rode, but after about 20,000 miles I started hearing noises up front and discovered that the lower shock bushings failed (has anyone encountered a similar thing on 887’s) I don’t abuse my truck in the least, and maybe I got a lemon set, but since I switched to the nitro charger sports everything has been great! I can’t see myself ponying up the coin for kings, icons, ads, etc... because this kit has suited my needs for everything so far. I think you’ll be pleased with this setup. Just my opinion!! If I do get a wild hair though I’ll probably go bp-51’s and stick with ome.

here is a pic of 5100’s with blown lower bushings, and nitrocharger sport 90000’s. It’s hard to tell but the 5100 bushing moved up 3/16”. I’ve since adjusted my bump stops.2D76DF79-B938-40F0-8942-8E637FACE0D2.jpg
Edit: Oh yeah, go headstrong. They’ll answer every question and guide you along. Great prices and customer service!

I passed the one year mark with my OME setup a couple months ago and I’m still smitten. For the money, you can’t go wrong.

No problems with OME 45k miles on 2nd gen. I found best price at Low Range Offroad given their price of new upper mounts and assembly. Was free shipping at the time as well. Good customer service. I opted for heavy springs and spacers in both spring packs. If doing over I'd go medium springs no spacers. Yeah, they show a little rust after 3-4 years being on there but in the midwest rust belt, plus lots of gravel to and from fishing hole.

Headstrong offroad really impressed me with how quickly they got everything to me considering we're on opposite sides of the country.

The only thing i didn't care for is that the top hats they use on their pre-assembled shocks don't allow for you to spin the nuts all the way down the bolts by hand. You get about 2 turns of engagement, then you have to work it all the way down with a ratcheting box wrench. Not the end of the world, but when you're holding the shock up with on hand and turning the nut down with the other, it would be nice to just spin that bad boy down real quick.

Heavy duty leaf packs in the rear to help hold up to all my extra weight..(Decked drawers, RTT, rack, soft topper, etc.)

886 coils in the front for the steel bumper and expectation of eventually adding a winch. (it honestly rides pretty well currently without a winch)

softer valved shocks because most of my driving is on the road.

pre-assembled front shocks, because even though i have spring compressors, $100 is worth not having to use them.

Superbumps are definitely coming sooner than later, bottoming out on stiffer springs on the stock bumps is rough.

Probably going to add UCAs down the line as well, I'd like to get a little more caster out of my alignment and i'm maxed on the stocks right now, but the alignment feels good for now, doesn't wander on the highway.

I self installed in the street outside my house. The front took me about an hour each side. The rear took me a little bit longer, mainly because it took some time trying to figure out how to get the rear of the truck high enough off the ground to do the work. ended up doing a lot of cribbing for my jackstands and using the hitch receiver as the jack point. But i'm very happy i installed it myself, over paying someone 800+ to do it for me. As long as you're meticulous and pay attention to your torque specs as you button it up, you should be fine.

How was the ride between the two shocks?

Definitely noticeable where the 5100’s were a more plush/softer ride on the pavement and slow speed off road stuff. Just never felt that the dampening was there for faster/rougher off road conditions. I do have the stiffer valved 90000’s so more of a stiff ride on road and slow speed off road, but they take bigger hits nicely without topping/bottoming. I feel like they shine over the 5100’s (just my opinion) for the off roading I do. They suit my needs better. A lot more rebound with the 90000’s. I have a 90lbs roof rack and I’ll be putting sliders on, as well as a slimline and winch. That’s why I went 90000’s to prepare for 886’s.

Check out Wheeler’s, they seem to be about $100 cheaper than others for the same configuration. The link you provided shows a price of $1400, but that isn’t including front strut and spring assembly, so for about that same price you can get it delivered from other sellers with the strut/spring assembled.

I see Wheelers and Headstrong recommend on a consistent basis.

Looks good, stock UCA? How is the alignment?

For install, how high did you end up needing to get the ass end up to have room to work? I’m going to have this same issue when I do mine.

Absolutely love how my OME setup rides. I went 886 with Dakar HD leaf pack, SPC LR UCA. I'm 10,000 miles in. Ordered from Headstrong.

I would honestly just get the Eibach pro lift kit with an AAL system as well! Cheaper and a better ride overall.
