I’d like to learn stocks, I’m game if somebody’s willing to teach me how. Robinhood, scottrade, others?

For the record the market is closed on Jan 18. Start of trading will be hard that day. Although I always wanted to trade FOREX. How hard can it be? lol

whoa. Now. I’ll give two pieces of advice.

robinhood is cheap but I use TD ameritrade. Reliability is key. And I like TD I actually like it not feeling like an app or being modern etc. it feels more “real” to me that way. So i would say TD but, they’re all realistically about the same. Other than a few minor things here and there, but those minor things for some might be a major difference for others. I think for “just starting out”, any broker will do.

now the boring part. Don’t play this game just starting out. You have a lot to learn, I remember being at that stage and looking back, I didn’t play games like this and I’m glad. At that point it was more so boring vanguard ETFs and just learning how all this stuff works.

if it’s any consolation I’m thinking up a regular prize we can do, and maybe trying to do this every quarter or half. Of course, not to steal the torch from @slodoug if he wants it, it’s all him. I’m just trying to figure out some sort of prize for the winners of it. Future days, and for now just be boring, and watch. It sucks to hear and do it that way, and please don’t think of me as a condescending ass hole - I’d way rather see you turn 600 into 700 than 600 into 0. We joke and poke fun but at the end of the day we all do actually take this relatively seriously.

you best include me on that list of morons. Who the HELL buys $BCLI right after a completely unexpected (because people had mumblings....) drop right before stage 3 goes tits up. And then, I decide TODAY is a good day to buy into $MESO to sell a covered call like THATS a good idea.

I’m up 11 since October 15 when I took over trading from betterment to my own. But that’s allllll boring stonks. My “play” stuff is in the shitter. so about half in 60 days but I probably started with less.

like I said. Ultimately we all take it seriously as much as we joke

I make good decisions. But they’re boring. I’ll joke about XOM and stuff in monopoly because they’re calculated decisions on money I would have otherwise spent on mountain bike stuff of trd pro grilles.

I can pitch in a bottle of my homemade rum. It’s mediocre rum but infused with the good stuff. But not sure if that’s allowed, with TW, alcohol as the winner. Also don’t want to discourage 16-20 from getting in on it.

Do I get a prize for taking half of my savings and putting it into apple back in February at 250 per share PRE SPLIT? For reference It was abt 3-4 summers worth of work. I'm a high school kid so total wasn't much but the % growth in my fidelity account has been something I don't think I will ever replicate unless Elon Musk tells me something that he tells no one else lol.
