This! I could eat it daily. A TW member from Hawaii has brought some over to the house and my whole family devoured it.

I'm from Hawaii and eat Spam. But I don't eat Spam musubi. I found that if you leave one in the hot sun on a golf cart & eat it after a couple of hours, you get sick. Never ate one since.

Ha. I’ve tried to live by the whole “live life to the fullest” but even that would be crossing the line for me.

What’s the homemade sauce that Hawaiians drizzle over musabi sometimes?

    You guessed it... Florida.

Woman hears rustling in Christmas tree, finds raccoon inside

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Around 4 a.m., Aubrey Iacobelli was awoken by a rustling coming from her Christmas Tree.

Her eager dog fixated on what she thought might have been a cat who had some how managed to find its way into her home via the tree.

“No, that’s not a cat...” Iacobelli proclaimed in a video she uploaded to Facebook, which showed her spraying the tree with a water bottle yelling “C’mon! Get out!”

“An early surprise waiting for me in the Christmas Tree this morning," she wrote on social media.

After a close and careful inspection of her Christmas tree and a warning to the intruder — “Out! Before I let out the dogs!” — things immediately took a turn when she realized the “cat” was in fact an enormous raccoon.

Within seconds, the wild raccoon lunged at Iacobelli’s dog, knocking over the Christmas tree and causing both Iacobelli and her dog to retreat.

Nearly an hour after the animal’s discovery, the raccoon could be seen hanging from a ceiling light fixture before being chased around the house, refusing to leave until Iacobelli was finally able to fend off the animal with a broom.

“And that was my Thursday morning,” Iacobelli said, recalling the incident following the raccoon’s departure.

She explained that her dog suffered only minor injuries: a few scratches. She said her vet thought it was hilarious and the raccoon ended up back in the forest where it belonged.

I think this is a result of the "GI's" having it in the Pacific islands during WWII. Correct me if I am wrong

We have a couple of Hawaiian restaurants here in town, one makes a spam fried rice dish and both have it on the menu in some way. It’s good eating, but I can’t seem to cook it at home the same.... I tried fried spam with pineapple and rice, but I can’t get the sauce right.

I’ve had spam from a non-stick pan, and I’ve had it from a high-carbon steel wok. Something about how that wok cooks that makes it so much better. I think it must be in the sear.

That could be it, I bet they cook hot and fast and I grew up in KC where meat is cooked for hours. Maybe I should get a wok. My co workers family is from the South east Asia, and he grew up on spam... won’t touch it now.

I went to college with a bunch of Pacific Islanders (Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, Palau). We had to use the software on the school's computers. The labs were open all night but the computers would automatically shut down at 0300, so you had to be aware of the time before you started any big FEAs. Most of the time we'd knock off around 0200 and go make spam musubi in one of their dorm rooms. It's good, but there's just something about eating it stupid late at night that made it great.

That was years ago. Today my daughter was asking about Spam, so I figured we'd hit up a Hawaiian BBQ that we drive past all the time. Went in, asked for a spam musubi and the guy running the joint had no idea what it was. So we came home and had soup instead.

Something like that. Non-stick pans cook different. They just don't seem to develop good browning like other pans - for example making carmelized onions works great in a stainless steel pan but not in a non-stick.

Splurge and reward yourself with a vintage “Griswold” brand cast iron skillet. Season it appropriately and enjoy.3DAC4441-1CD5-4FD6-B331-E90D7071B7C2.jpg

One of my really good friends and the best man in my wedding is a dude named Gunnar Griswold. I thought that was a made up name till I met him and his family. They own a bunch of that brand's cookware. Good shit right there.

I picked up a bunch at a thrift store. Cheap and easy to clean and start over fresh with a new seasoning.
