    Hello TacomaWorld,

Hoping to get a hand with some electrical issues in my 2020 Tacoma. Only 12,000 miles and 9months old.

    1. BSM system check
    2. Pre Collision System Malfunction
    3. Back up camera not displaying (system will alert if something is close to the rear, just not seeing anything)

Everything has been working for the 9months great. Around 11,700 is when the problems started. So it starts like this…Every morning I drive to work (20 miles) at about 7/7:30am. Everything is fine. After the car sits in the parking lot and I leave work around 4/4:30pm I get the problems.

I think it has something to do with the heat, and lately getting 80-100 F out.

Took it to the dealer once, the guy said nothing was wrong. Sent me home. Three days later I was back at the dealer with the exact same problems. They kept the truck for 2 days. Now they are saying it’s because of the LED bulbs.

I personally find it hard to believe that a light will cause these issues. Especially since the lights were all replaced the same week I bought the truck. I have a hard time seeing at night, so that is always the first thing Ive done with all my cars.

I feel like they are reverting to some BS answer to try to get out of holding their end of my extended warranty up so they don’t have to warranty a pricey computer comment.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated. Also if anyone knows any good Toyota mechanics in the Denver/Aurora/Centennial area. I am looking to take it somewhere else for a second opinion. (I pick it up tomorrow morning. I will be requesting copies of all the diagnostics ran and can post copies here too.)

Try a different dealer and show them those pictures or open a case with Toyota

Change back to original bulbs, when the problem duplicates confront dealer with issue.

Second picture looks like EMI...could be correct on the LED cause.

These 3rd gen really do not like led lights. The voltage checks done by the ecu just freak out at the change.

Lol it’s not the heat bud.

try taking your LEDs out, and replacing them with stock. If the problem duplicates. Then take it back.

I concur. Take out LED bulbs. If it fixes it then you know the problem.
And I hate to say this but if you have trouble seeing at night you shouldn't be steering a 4600 lb metal missle hurtling down the road at night.

I'm betting they moved him into a Pro for his troubles. And set him up with the Dealership Owner's daughter :bananadance:

    It would be nice, wouldn't?
He/she most likely doesn't want to admit all their lights were causing it.
I'll never understand, Why so many folks around here are so hung up on putting LEDs! in every nook and cranny. It's like they need an LED light to light their LED light switch.

You’re an idiot. As we age past about 25
Our eyes all degrade for night vision.

I'm 58. My eyes are not as good as they used to be but I can still see fine with stock headlights, so when somebody tells me they have trouble seeing with stock lights at night, that means they are well below average eyesight and probably shouldn't be driving at night. My wife does not drive anymore at night because her eyes don't adjust well.

Now... a friendly word of advice:
Making a post like you just did is going to assure your days are numbered as a member of Tacomaworld. Here's the rule.... if you are going to criticize, criticize the post, never the poster.
Instead of calling me an idiot, tell me that is an idiotic way to look at it. Never attack the poster, just the post.
You do not know me so you cannot judge me... but you can judge the post. Understand?
Merry Christmas man and good luck.

Maybe next time you can suggest they go see an Opthalmologist instead of telling them they’re unfit to drive.

I have read plenty of issues here on TW based on LED installs. This trucks electrical system is way too sensitive.

That may be but that seems to be the way things are going in the Automotive world. At work we have a mobile crane on a newer International Chassis. Some of our guys added LED work lights to it to make working at night easier. Somehow the installation of those lights messed-up the CANBUS system and caused all sorts of unrelated problems.
