Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Unfortunately he doesn’t answer emails quick so even if I did send request ticket now it’s doubtful as I still haven’t gotten response from a ticket last Thursday. Had to check my email to see when it was sent.

Anyway it’s not a big deal to me. I’m not that impatient and can wait if it doesn’t happen. Have to be at hospital today for tests to see if appendix will be removed so I’m definitely not in any rush and this comment or any other about slower response time on email isn’t meant disrespectful as I know he’s already stated he’s swamped with extra emails.

Anyway, I’ll send a request for the tune pack and see what happens but I’m not at home at my laptop anyway and can’t really offer any info if he needs anything from the laptop.

 

Folks who sent a request yesterday got the TPs.

 

Emails / tickets right now are being done by *priority* not by when we receive it. This is due to the massive influx of holiday orders, inquiries, etc.

 

I sent request just for the heck of it. This is truly not a rush anyway I promise. I’ve had vftuner purchased since may and only installed it this weekend and then closed laptop til later when I can spend a few minutes learning exactly what to click and if someone were to have already said what to do.

 

Sorry I’m very intermittent at work on my phone here. I’m not a priority trust me. If you get to it you get to it. If not I’ll message ya back next month after the holidays.

 

very interested to hear thoughts of those that have flashed to 04b33 and tried the new Tune pack matt just put out. more specifically when it comes to the 5.29 tune.

 

What constitutes a priority?

If I were to venture a guess probably tunes for people with his very expensive turbo kit etc as it's more a necessity than a great upgrade like upgrading from stock tune to a VfTuner pack

 

reg / master keys, tune packs, troubleshooting etc.

tickets / emails about "is this supported, when is 2.0 going to be updated, can I get XYZ file as VFT" etc are not.

I've been running OVTune for about a month and 1,500 miles now -- b31, 2.0 Reg Thx. It is wonderful and worth every penny - thank you OVTune for the great product.

A question for the community:

With a '19 on b31, will the dealer ever update me to b33 as part of regular maintenance? Is there anything to worry about if they do, or will their flash just overwrite? If that happens, do I need to worry about buying more credits to get the new tunepacks?

 

Unlikely but not impossible. It’ll just overwrite and update you to the new ecu. At that point you need tunes for that new calibration

 

I can’t answer that but I can say that if you download the .cuw file that tonered has on the ecu update topic it’s as simple and double clicking the .cuw file and following the on screen instructions.

In regards to "priority" when getting responses from OVTune, I have some concerns. I paid $600 back in the first week of December. After receiving my cable in the mail I was finally able to send out my ECU ID email on Thursday 12/17. I have sent a couple of follow up emails with no response. I also read that after today they will be shutting down till 4 Jan. I am excited for this and am eagerly awaiting my Tacoma Tune pack information, but these delays are unacceptable. If a company charges you $600 bucks right away so they can get paid, then a customer should not have to wait weeks on end to get what they paid for.

Sorry for the rant folks but I spent hard earned cash during a pandemic hoping that a "tuned" truck would help lift my spirits... I now feel like I lost out on money (Order# 7802)

 

Do you already have the reg key and master key (if not have you checked spam)? I assume the ECU ID is requesting tune packs?

The master key is sent automatically
You need to request the Reg key by emailing your system ID to zendesk
You need to request the tune pack you would like after you have identified your ECU

 

Shellshock, Yes the ECU ID is to request my tune pack. My last email to them was me identifying my ECU ID, the instructions after that state that I have to wait on them to either provide my tunes or tell me if it's already available to download. Since 12/17, that is where I have been at. Sys ID provided and ECU ID sent... thanks for the reply. Hoping I get my info soon.

 

I don’t know if I’ve done this. I’ve entered the master key and haven’t done anything besides that.

 

However, I’m a flash kit owner and have already had a reg key sent to me then. Purchased vftuner as an add on so not sure what else I’d have to do next. Figure it out one day though.
