We now have two different styles of machined aluminum buttons, the standard design is customizable and the A1 is not but has a bit more personality already.

The A1 Button is sold as a kit with the trim ring, therefore deleting the chrome. The center slot lets the standard light come through or a color vinyl can be installed that glows slightly at dark.





Standard Aluminum Button

These are machined down from a solid bar of aluminum,
the three holes in the bottom are thru holes that allow light to pass for night time visibility.
Buttons are available in a variety of engraving designs and in a few standard finish and color combinations.

That first one is nice. Wonder if can make them out of like a gunmetal or darker metal.

 

Aluminum can be powdercoated, Annodized, ceracoated or painted pretty easily. Plus pretty cheap and easy to machine.

 

These are pretty sharp looking. I would imagine they could be quite customizable with text and symbols.

 

Just curious will they work the same with a dead Fob battery as the OEM button?

I did have a question though, how do they stay in place without popping out? The factory one has the plastic clips that hold it in place.

That's one thing I will admit we haven't tested BUT!... when the fob is low on battery you place it close to the button so that the radio signal doesnt have to travel too far and there is plastic all around the button so even if the aluminum blocked the signal completely (which it doesn't) the signal should still be strong enough to go around the button, you may need to place it right next to it versus directly on top of it.

You're right, and we did think about people's fear of chrome (including myself) but there's something about a machined aluminum finish that just doesnt look like chrome, I actually like the way the metal look with the chrome ring around it.
These should be fairly easy to paint, dip, anodize or powdercoat if o desired though. We might do it if we find people really want that.

We make plastic buttons too and those do have the clips, we've made and tested a few dozen designs, the clips dont make much of a difference when the tolerances are tight. These metal buttons don't have clips but they are machined with very tight tolerances, they fit very snugly and stay on with friction. Once pushed in there is virtually no play and something would have to push it out from the inside for it to come out.
