Toyota website says 1155 lbs for a TRD OR DC 5’ bed....

My 2021 TRD OR DC 5’ bed says ~950lb in the door......not sure what’s going on there....

The weight of any options that you have is subtracted from the max available payload which gives you your 950lb on the door.

You may also have a little yellow sticker in the door jam further reducing that value; the region adds those from any port installed accessories.

Yeah. When I had my Tacoma with my friend, me and four bags of concrete mix put us over limit.

Website number is maximum possible depending on how the truck is equipped. Number on sticker is actual payload for that truck based on options. The GVWR is the hard number. Heavier trucks mean less payload.

FWIW I see this all the time even with 3/4 ton trucks. People often way overestimate how much weight their trucks will handle. Most Tacoma's will be in the 1100-1200 lb range, but a basic 4X2 Access cab truck with the 4 cyl and manual transmission is over 2000 lbs. Most 1/2 tons are 1600-1800, but some are as low as 1000, some closer to 2500. A diesel engine is much heavier than a gas engine and many 3/4 ton trucks with diesel engines don't have as much payload as a basic Tacoma. If you want a diesel AND payload you need to buy a 1 ton.

This is one of the more commonly overlooked things when buying a truck. Guys buy a truck to tow a trailer only to find they don't have enough payload to handle the tongue weight.

I have like zero additional options on this truck that should add ~250lbs, that includes basically nothing from port/dealer.

maybe the chrome bumper? LED headlights? Locking tailgate? Those are the three biggest options in my TRD OR

I could be wrong here but I think all 4wd TRD OR DCSB start at around 990lb-1000lb and go down from there depending on options and add ons.

when I’m on website it it the specs for DCSB v6 4x4 TRD OR. Says 1155, maybe it’s wrong, or isn’t actually factoring in the OR package which I’m sure takes it down

    4x4. automatic. that’s +200lbs.

dealer options wouldn’t make it on the door tag anyway since that’s installed when built.

I’ve been over payload for 170k. Nothing is yet to break.
