@JJ04TACO Yeah I definitely got unlucky and I'm sure that the torque spec on this isn't even the same as what's in the manual. I'm going to work on getting a factory service manual because I kind of want to rebuild the whole engine.

First part is going to be to clean everything so I'll be digging around for engine/entire drivetrain cleaning tips if anybody knows a good thread.

It's the bottom plug, here's the picture I just took of the unit it's definitely not stock. I think the stock bolt is M18x1.50

I end up using a chisel and a 5 pound hammer to get off on the edge, nothing else worked

@1997tacomav6 The first time I took that drain bolt off I had to use acetone, automatic transmission fluid, and about 3 days worth of tears. Hell, that's probably why it's sheared right now.

Never forget...lefty loosey, righty tighty..just kidding. The way that metric one looks now, I'd leave it alone. As far as being lined up, it's just a casting. Normal. It tightened up and seals, I'd be happy.

I can attest the Lexus Plug for replacing the factory drain plug HEX head works like a charm. BTW the 24MM rear diff fill plug is an easy replacement for the front diff fill plug. Your future self with thank you. Just remember don't over tighten!!

I had to take it to a friend of mine at a local garage to remove the old hex heads. He actually broke a 10MM hex socket on the drain plug trying to get it out. I soaked them with PB blaster overnight didn't help. I couldn't budge them and didn't want to strip them trying. When it was up the lift, we used the ball end of a ball ping hammer and kept wrenching and tapping the plug. It finally came out after the 5th try. The fill plug was tight but came out on about the third try. 2014 Taco TRD Off Road
