    Ah, the door sensor.
So you think the steering wheel locks when the door closes?

The wheel shouldnt lock unless you turn it with the key removed.

Yeah. That's why it beeps like crazy if u turn the truck off with the door open. The truck needs to know when to lock the steering wheel. Again. This is my experience with an auto.

I turn my MT truck off with the door open, it just beeps to remind you to get your key out of the ignition/ the door is ajar. At least that's what I think

That's what I thought. Do our trucks have a Mechanical lock or is it electronic? I would bet that it depends on if you're MT or AT (Key/ No Key)

It should be mechanical, at least in the MT

I have absolutely no idea, but methinks it's electromechanical in the at.

You may be correct, l never put that much thought into Push To Start vehicles before but it makes sense that it would need something to trigger when to lock it.

Aye, me thinks is the fuel pump. The Steering lock is a mechanical kind.

Sorry, meant manual / mechanical steering column lock, since he has a real key.

Smart keys have the electromechanical steering column lock. Those release when you press the start button, and engage when you open the door, or I think a time delay if the door is not opened.

I specifically checked for this today, there was no brake buzz or brake pedal movement whatsoever in my truck.

I never recalled my brake pedal buzzing or moving before but wanted to double check just to be sure, must be a MT AT difference.

Well MTs don't have the electronic booster do they? So that makes sense. I think the noise I hear is the steering wheel unlocking unrelated to the pedal "pressurizing".

Yeah l am curious to see if your truck has any movement too, funny how all these Tacoma's have little differences.

Weird! So you have the ebooster and it still doesn't pop the pedal out, eh? Strange

Another example, not mechanical/electrical though. My buddy and I have pretty much same trucks. The only thing, his is 19 OR AT, black as well. Identical rims and tires, his tires do not touch the mudflaps. My front 2 tires touch the mudflaps slightly, right tire not as much as left tire. Go figure.

Trucks look identical from outside except for scoop and fender flares of course.
