What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Did you make these yourself or buy them somewhere?

 

they look like the Rago Fab ones. pretty sure they are the only ones who make them (minus people who just do it themselves). they should be available on their website

Did something that I absolutely despise today: redoing something that I just did. A couple of weeks ago, I replaced my cat and A/F and O2 sensors, to get rid of a nagging P0420 code. Immediately, I start getting a P0136 code for the O2 sensor. Denso sensor purchased off Amazon. Reset the code a couple of times, but no joy. Today, I purchased another Denso from Autozone, and swapped it out. Took it for a short drive this evening, and so far so good. I'm thinking I either got a defective one (it happens), or perhaps it was a counterfeit from Amazon. I'll give it a few more days, and if code doesn't reappear, I ship it back to Amazon as defective.

 

I got a fake denso A/F sensor off flebay a couple years ago. Wouldn't surprise me to see one show up on Amazon.

Fake Denso sensors are all over ebay and Amazon, stuff like that I would get direct from a parts store or their website.

 

I compared them pretty closely, and couldn't detect any difference. In particular, I compared the sheath on the wiring, and both had fabric in the plastic. Oh well, if the code goes away completely, I'll call it good enough, and ship back to Amazon.

 

I broke an alternator bolt today. Any one know how to source a set of these?

you sure you broke it and didn't just un do it all the way?

or did you not loosen the to alternator bolts to allow it to move and actually torqued the head off?

 

The long tension adjustment bolt is fine. The square "nut" and its associated threaded stud need to be replaced. I was torquing the alternator back down and it felt soft and just snapped.

 

ah. bummer man.

 

This is all in the middle of a supercharger install.... so 'bummer' is spot on. I was getting excited to drive it today.

 

Yeah I bet. Been there.

I think you can get that from toyota but it'll likely be the whole bracket just to get the bolt.

Or cruise the part outs on here or junk yards

 

A dude on Amazon says that this worked for him. They have these in stock at my local auto zone. I guess I will give this a shot. Based on his comment it sounds like I'll need a longer locking bolt. Worth a shot? maybe.

 

Switched to full synthetic mobile one oil last week,
Hopefully no leaks will appear! Just did the valve covers over the summer and had a new rear main seal 2 years ago when I did the clutch so I’m thinking I’m ok,

Anyone have any oil leaks from switching to synthetic and where if so?

 

After a dumbass here at work didn't look where he was going and backed into my truck as I was looking for a spot, yes.

 

Well just know there is a possibility because I ended up with a fake set,

Anyone know if the air cleaner/intake from a 4runner with 3.4 is a direct swap into the Tacoma w/ 3.4? I’d like to ditch the shitty k&n intake my truck came with and go back to stock. Found a 4runner at pick n pull

 

You're talking about the air cleaner box and intake tube, with MAF?

I'm pretty sure they are the same. My son's 96 4Runner is the same as my 02 Tacoma.
