Can't like that post because of what happened to him. Sometimes being nice isn't worth the suffering. Thanks for sharing Tex.

I did some hitch-hikin' myself and also picked up a lot of em back in the late 60's and early 70's. Met some very interesting people and a few weirdos too!
I absolutely wouldn't do that in this day and age though!

Short story - in the late 60’s I was a college student in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area. Being young (I was 20) and crazy I use to pick up hitch hikers all the time. It was always young people “hippie” types. One day driving up to Berkeley I picked up this very attractive hippie girl. I had back packing gear in the back seat which she noticed. We started talking backpacking and I told her I was leaving in 2 days on a 3 day back pack. She was an experienced backpacker and asked if she could come along with me. I of course said hell yes. Picked her up in Berkeley and off we went. About 2 miles into our hike there was a river we had to cross, about 4’ deep. As we were preparing for our crossing I noticed she took all all her clothes,
I mean all of her clothes, naked. So I took off my clothes and we forded the river. Mid summer up in the Sierras didn’t see another person. Other than at night when the temps cooled down she never put her cloth on until the last day as we approached my car. I won’t go into details but will say she showed me her appreciation for taking her along. She was a passionate girl. She taught me “things”. She was a sweet and wonderful young woman. After the trip I dropped her off at her “hippie” house she kissed me good bye and I never saw her again. I gave her my phone number (she didn’t have a phone) but she never called. For years after I hoped my phone would ring and it would be her.
It’s been 50 years and I still remember every detail of that trip like it was yesterday. It was a young mans fantasy come true.
I haven’t told anyone that story for probably 40 plus years.
I too wouldn’t pick up any hitchhiker today in this day and age.

Our family doctor checks our temperature before allowing us into the building. So based on that, we've been checking our own every few days.. assuming temp. is an indicator. At least it's instant. IDK if it's a good indicator, makes sense though.

    Good Morning folks.
The time of free love, and peace. Make love not war:D. I was in the service during some of that time so I didn't get into the "hippie" movement. Still remember Woodstock and the crowd it drew. Those were the days for a lot of people. Glad you had that experience Ken, and the memory of it .

I have been saying that for years Mike. Thank you. Techs are under paid and abused almost everyday by a lot of customers that "think" they know what they are talking about. Your signature says it all. Be safe and Stay healthy.

Waiting for the Christmas plum pudding to finish steaming, as usual, one for me and one for my buddy who then gives me Christmas cookies! :cookiemonster:
Time to get the Flintlock out, the FL season along with an extended archery season opens the day after Christmas, hopefully the weather cooperates.

To quote my big sis. Our generation used up almost all of the fun. There are only scattered pockets left and we aren’t telling the kids where they are.

A little something every chance we get.
Evening Porch! Been a little MIA lately. Kind of "sulking" and avoiding the social. Our youngest son lives with us, and Friday night he got back from another overtime with news that a young lady he works with had been out dining with someone who was Cov-19 positive. So, he's been wearing a mask, eating away from us, and a joy to be with when he gets home and before he leaves. Because they had not had a result, they were still open, so he's still working and the rest of the crew in the jewelry repair shop he works in are a bunch of slackers. Put in a 76 hour week last week to help "them all" earn their bonus. He and the wife are both Cov-19 "averse", so it's been safety city around here. The GOOD news tonight is that the girl tested NEGATIVE. So, back to cautious normal. YAY!

I've been lurking and liking, and working in the garage. I'd be thrilled if I didn't leave a mess tonight, but paints got to dry, so there you go. Pics coming soon, I promise! Errands tomorrow, so back in there Thursday for a while.

Good morning, all!! Our Covid tests came back negative yesterday so we are again on the loose!! Did some shopping and went out to a local golf course that puts on a huge lighting display - you drive your vehicle along the cart paths - takes about 40 minutes to get through and people wait as much as two ours to get in. Awesome beyond description. I decorated the truck too. Be safe and enjoy the day!!
