Any way to change the default distance? I might use it more often if it was defaulted to the nearest setting instead of the farthest. I was able to change several other system defaults with Techstream, but couldn't find one for the dynamic cruise.

I have mine set on long using the button on the steering wheel, on my 18 SR. I have to use my key to unlock the door (no remote on base model), but I have dynamic cruise control :D

My salesman went over it with me. Yours didn't?

I understand how to change it. It resets to the farthest setting every time you turn off the truck. What I want to know is to how to get it to DEFAULT to the closest setting.

Blast from the past. I feel ya OP. It would be great if there was a setting in the menu to make it default to the shortest distance. The long distance setting is obnoxious. I would prefer to not have to cycle thru long-medium-short every time I use DRCC.

I would also like to disable the “target acquired” graphic that pops up and blocks the entire display every time a car goes in and out of radar range. Is this possible?

Pretty sure that's possible from the settings menu on the display. I disabled that and the full screen gear shift indicator. I don't have access to my truck right now so I can't pull it up right now.

You just need to press the button 2x to change to the shortest follow distance. Not the hardest thing to do and a small price to pay to have radar cruise control offered standard. My $45k Audi doesn't even have radar cruise control.

You should be able to set the default. Why does it revert? It's like the etc button. Why does it revert every time you turn off the truck? What it should do is just remember your last used setting on stuff like this. I bought the etc always on adapter because it's annoying to have to press it every time.

It's not a physical button that controls the setting, it's an electronic one...if that makes sense. In my Tesla, the follow distance is set on the stalk by turning to my desired distance of 1 car and that's the default. Similar to how the intermittent windshield wiper speed is set physically and stays. The follow distance in the Tacoma is an electronic setting that resets when the engine is turned off. I'm assuming it's because there's no memory set up for the function. Again, this is a main stream mid-size pick up, not a luxury car.
