New Pirelli Scorpion A/T Plus Installed

Looking into these myself.
any update from anyone?
Im 90% steet and snow in winter

 

I pulled the trigger last week, but haven't installed them yet. I found them for $134 per tire at Walmart and discount tire price matched. Figured cant go wrong at that price.
I did as much research as I could online. There is just not a ton of info yet, but I really couldn't find anything bad about this tire.

 

I’m still liking mine. Still the only AT I’ve had on my truck, but they seem to perform well in all conditions I’ve had them in. Not much mud and no snow as I have winter tires. They are ranked quite highly on tire rack among AT tires, although they do have less reported miles since they’re still fairly new. Overall I’m happy with them. Would recommend.

 

These are on my short-list, any additional feedback, or pics, on how these things go? On paper they seem pretty great. Reasonable weight, decent look, good price, reputable brand...

 

I would still recommend them, but it’s the only AT I’ve had on my 2015. I just got a 2020 and am going to buy new AT tires of some sort in the spring. I would buy the Pirellis again, but there’s so many good AT tires now that I feel like I need to try something else just for a change.

 

As an aside, I didn’t realize how effective the stone ejectors worked until I got my 2020. The factory TOYO A30 or whatever comes on TRD Sports gather rocks and hold them in the tread until you’re on the highway. The faster you go the more rocks get thrown out. The Pirellis just seem to leave rocks laying on the ground. I’m don’t really know how they work, but they do.

 

Bought a set Sep 5 at sams club. Was waiting for the auto section to open up.( you know that covid thing)
will be putting them on Oct 25 .....

Yeah, none of us need the E-rated. The P-metric weight rating exceeds the weight rating of the Tacoma axle. The only reason to run E-rated tires is to get the size/pattern/aesthetic you want.

An E-Rated tire doesn't have ten ply's. Its ten-ply "rated" harkening back to the bias ply tires of yesteryear. To get the weight rating out of an E-rated tires, you have to run much more pressure. Thats why E-rated tires have a max pressure of 80psi. If you are running at a lower PSI on an E-rated tire, you actually have a lower weight rating than a P-metric at the same pressure. This is also why E-Rated tires have such an super harsh ride. Not to mention the massive weight penalty, which compromises suspension, accelerating, braking and gas-mileage.

A C-Rated tire often has a lower weight rating than a P-Metric tire because C-rated tires are designed for ultra-light weight jeeps and whatnot.

 

So what's the final verdict on these? Walmart has them for 130something bucks right now.

 

I thought they were a solid tire. Going to get new ATs in the spring and I’m not sure if I’ll go with these or something else. There’s a ton of good AT tires out there now.

 

So UPDATE I've had them for 30 days now and the look great, and so far they are only a little louder than the firestones it replaced, by now i don't even notice them.
Only had 1/2 of snow so far, need more to check how good they are.
You are going up 1 inch bigger than stock and you will notice it some, bigger DIA and 5 to 7lbs heaver i think.
Running SEMA rims with them and no rubbing so far.
Wallmart has them for $110 and Crap that's cheap. i do know that stores are running out of them (tis the season)
So get them while you can.

 

I just had my local discount tire match Walmart's price on the Scorpion AT+. I was really wanting some other tires, but for the price ($110.90 for 265/70/17) I couldn't pass them up. Plus, there's a $70 mail in rebate from pirelli (that ended yesterday). Even if I don't love them, that's a great deal IMHO.

 

That’s a crazy deal. Mine cost over $1000.

 

OK I have them in E rated 265/75r16 (134? bucks). They look macho enough and haven't been "too" noisy. Tomorrow or the next day I should be up in the hills to test them out a little better.

Also they are mounted on TRD PRO wheels and don't seem to rub the mudflaps.

 

I decided to try them, for $109 from Walmart I figured why not. Hopefully mounted in a week or so. Toyo Open Country AT2 on there now.

 

Well maybe not. After 2 weeks of waiting FedEx says they never recieved them and Walmart says they must be lost. Cancelled and refunded.

 

I tried mine out on some muddy roads the other day, worked well. They also do not seem to “load up” or throw rocks all over the place like most AT tires do. So far so good.

In an odd twist of fate, discount tire counted the scorpions I purchased in their inventory as available and shipped them off to another store. They offered to replace them with Cooper AT3 4S' and I accepted. I wish I could've got them in 255/70/17, but beggars can't be choosers!
