Fawk yeah it does tell me about it. Whats worse is those old injuries slowly creeping in and coming back to bite you. But I'll take what I'm dealing with now for the experiences I have had any day.

I need a presidential pardon to join. Having a missing valve in your heart kinda is a big deal to them. Me and uncle sam had a little discussion about that when I got a letter for failure to sign up for the draft when i exhausted every ave. to voluntarily join at 18. Plus I'm pretty sure navy, marines, and af you have to have been prior military to join those reserves.

“Navy Reserve Guidelines If you are interested in joining the Navy Reserve, you must be between the ages of 18 and 39 without prior service. Prior service age limits differ.”

    https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/join-reserve-navy.html

You do need a high school diploma, take the ASVAB and pass a physical. The physical would disqualify you with the heart valve, no doubt.

Yeah it’s funny, I had looked that up last week after the BOL was saying he wished he hadn’t let his mother talk him out of the National Guard out of high school and I started looking up age restrictions. Navy Reserve has the the least stringent guidelines in terms of how old you can be.

If I was single, not happy with my job and 70 lbs. lighter I might consider it haha.

Air Force is up there too...I could go enroll as an officer since I'm not 39 yet.

Basic would probably whoop my ass and I'd miss my kids, so fuck that.

I hear ya. I've had some bad injuries over the years so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out as I get older. Still feel pretty good at 35 though. :fingerscrossed:

That's pretty much the only affordable way to become a helicopter pilot.

I don't have any regrets in life, and I wouldn't change a thing even if I could. But, if I were to have taken a different path, it would involve flying helicopters.

Those are really the only real pilots left. The rest are basically button pushers. You can make some serious money with all the vietnam era guys retiring. Any machine that gives physics the middle finger is awesome in my book!

Mine is not finishing my private pilot license when I had my chance to.

I'm aware, but if you want to make a career out of it, then the return is worth the cost.

But Slander is right, it's extremely expensive to be a commercial helicopter pilot without the military paying for it.
