    Replicating the "back" leg will be difficult and require some welding or body panel adhesive. A, separate front leg with integral threads may be possible by bending up a piece of sheet metal.
    OR, perhaps just a piece of rod stock with the necessary threads, to sit snugly under the existing 2 leg mount.

    Edit to update the idea. It could have a blind hole for the threaded insert to nest in. this way the threaded insert is tied to the factory bracket, and the rod stock could give resistance to twisting as the driver pulls on the handle. It would still be difficult to install, but could add some piece of mind.
    I'll work on this while I wait for delivery.

    I almost joined the 'kickstarter' a year ago but decided to wait until these were actually in stock because at that point it seemed like they had a ton of work to do to figure out molds and fitting. Glad I did. I ordered a few days ago and it's scheduled to arrive on Monday, all without having to give KTJO an interest-free loan for a year. I sure do feel bad for you guys that are still waiting - especially when she's still nickel & diming for shipping charges.

    What the hell are you guys doing to your handles, hanging off it with all your body weight? You use it to get in, not to strap down 1000lbs. If feels perfectly solid to me. Am I missing something?

    I think there's a couple concerns floating around...

    1) the existing legs on the driver side need to be tweaked, to get the pillar molding to install properly. As you probably know, once you bend metal (stress to yield), it will never be as strong. Think about unbending a paper clip... it causes stresses in the metal.

    2) the driver side braces, only have (2) legs on the top and bottom. The forces applied to the handle are typically lateral (pulling yourself into the cab). It would be ideal (like the passenger side) if there were a leg on the side, to combat these forces.

    Only time will tell if these factors lead to premature failure.

    I imagine a lot of the early shipments will be two of one cover because it took a bit for her to realize the problem and rectify it. This is a one person shop, I'll cut her some slack. Haven't seen mine arrive yet either.

    She mentioned that her manufacturer is the same one that makes parts for Toyota of China.
    I’m sure it is not OEM.
