Hello! Curious if you’ve noticed any benefits from the update? I’m on 04B80 and wondering if the cost of the Tactrix is worth it. Stock tune on my 2020

I've gone from 04B80 to 81 - I really didn't notice anything earth shattering. But, the OV Tunes (and community enhanced ones!) are totally worth it to me!

I knew it was too easy to expect this to work in my environment. I can have the latest and greatest in computers, but when it comes to something like this it won't run on what I have. Anyone seen this popup after trying to run techstream-act.exe?

Seems I don't have Smartscreen following every google'd method of disabling it. It just doesn't exist on my machine, or, it's cloaked as something else. But I thought I got past the popup until, it popped up again.

yep, that's all off, i have to chuckle at how many different security functions windows has. just moved back to windows from OSX late last year. i'm sure there's an obscure checkbox somewhere that needs to be unchecked or checked.

I'm having the same issue on a 2018 OR, I have two options in the VIM selection both Tactrix with one being 64bit. had to disable google file stream to get the key generator to work so I thought I'd be done easily. My voltage is 12.7 on an AGM battery so that's not the issue.

Yes, regarding TSB-0092-20 and updating my ECU from 04B80 to 04B81, there are definitely benefits; so from my perspective it is worth the cost of the Tactrix cable.

I was already quite happy with my truck, but now it is even a little bit better.
Like everyone else is saying, I noticed how it now holds gears longer before down-shifting; and I noticed how much more responsive the throttle is now, and how much smoother the throttle response is also.
Another big improvement that I noticed is how smoothly it runs when I first start it while it is cold. Before, it wanted to surge hard as I was pulling out of my garage, and I had to hold it back with the brakes; now it runs very smoothly when first started, and I don't have to stand on the brakes to hold it back.

I'm still noticing other minor improvements too. Overall, I would describe this Update as a very nice enhancement/refinement to an already good truck, and I heartily recommend it!

Thanks! Like you were, I’m happy with the truck but I also don’t know what I might be missing out on. Sounds like it could be worth it. Just annoying to spend nearly $200 on something I’ll use one time and then will collect dust

You could use it once and resell it if you didn’t want to keep it. They tend to go fairly quick

Well, you might be able to find someone in your area that will do it for you.
In the first post of this thread there is a list of members who will do this:

    Curious about TSB.

    Last step is this:
    upload_2020-12-23_15-14-21.jpg

So, if I do this myself, I won't have that label there. Is that something Toyota will use as a point of contention in the future? As it is, I have about 4,000 miles left on my 2 year maintenance plan (25k miles or 2 years...), after that all I really care about from Toyota is recall stuff, they're already going to give me the runaround about frame warranty but, at ~25k miles/year, I think I might end up at the end driving through the miles before the time on the frame for this truck.

Appointment set for Monday 28th to get it checked out, 9AM. I'm just anticipating if they say "nope we can't replicate gear hunting in 6th gear in our parking lot...."
