Do you have a tractix cable? I just updated mine myself, its not worth the hassle finding a dealer that wants to play ball.

I do not unfortunately. And yeah, I've tried to reach out and it's already proving to be a pain.

Might be a dead end; but have you tried contacting Toyota of Portland or whatever Broadway Toyota is now? I have heard they can be better than some others, but don’t have first hand experience.

Yep that's where I bought my truck, they were scheduling me in but then couldn't find the TSB in their system. I have a friend at corporate that is having the engineers push the info to them for me. I might not be able to get it done through them before I move, but hopefully it'll help someone else out in the future.

Toyota of Gladstone handled that for me during one of my service appointments. I mentioned it beforehand and there was no additional cost for it. I would give them a call.

So I was trying to figure out where to post this question, or find out where I should look for an answer, but since I've decided to settle with this thread as my lurking grounds I'll ask here:

I'm looking for some low profile steel (maybe aluminum?) bumpers. Suggestions?

I'm looking to do some light "overlanding," no rock crawling or craziness. Mostly mud, sand, snow and gravel; like what you guys have posted here.

I'm looking to keep it as budget as possible; I would prefer to have the option to fit a winch later.

I don't have any welding experience or a welder, but I'm also open to paying someone to weld it if it means it's more cost effective.

Any suggestions? Or should I wait and save up for a "real" bumper? I would still prefer something lower profile since this is my daily driver

Generally speaking it will be more cost effective to buy a bumper from a major fab company, rather than pay a small-time guy to fab one.

Appreciate it! I ended up having the TSB done by the same person that flashed OVTune for my truck.

    Btw OVTune is absolutely amazing.

SSO, CBI, C4 and a few others make a low pro bumper like you’re after and all should hold a winch.

I say get a full bumper if you think you’ll ever do any OHV trails (doesn’t have to be rock crawling), there’s a chance you’ll dent a part of the bumper that isn’t protected by a lo pro one and wish you had gotten full coverage. If you’re 100% certain you’ll never dip your toe (I told myself that once lol), I’d say go for a lo pro and save some money and weight. CBI, Victory, Demello and Greenlane Offroad (Canadian) make solid aluminum bumpers if you decide to go that way.

That SSO low profile one is reeaaally nice too. I want one but then I gotta get a winch, and lights and that's a lot of money lol :spending:

Haha same here man...SSO lo pro is nice because they have a bolt on stage 2 kit if you ever want to add more protection.

    You order those sliders yet??

Thanks @FashTaco and @Superhulk LB. Ya I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. Definitely gives me more peace of mind as far as protection goes too.

True.... I can see myself enjoying OHV trails... Okay, so if I'm not looking for the full size dodge bumper that adds 18 inches to my overall length (giggity), and I'm not looking to add an extra 250lbs of steel in front of me, any suggestions there? I do still like the sleek thinned down look... Also, side not, I'm not against a little fender trimming, but I'm not interested in cutting cab or frame.

As it is I have a bit of tire rub under compression and want to sort that out... But I literally just got the truck and my last "project" left a bad taste with the wife (LS2 MONEY PIT)
