Yes, but lower profile tires result in a harsher ride...

The van is a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT that has been with the company since it was less than year old; It was a lease that the company ended up buying.

The van has just under 120K miles and everything works; However, the van struggled to start today and when it did, the CEL was on.

Another coworker took the van to the mechanic my company uses and they scanned it for codes but got nothing. The van is easier to start when warmed up but still struggles a bit; Once started, it runs and drives fine.

This van is only driven a few thousand miles a year nowadays and it is not on my weekly roster of vehicles that I care for; I discovered today that while there is only a few thousand miles on the current oil, it has not been changed in over a year...

Someone (presumably a relative and likely my grandmother) thought it would be a good idea to put my dad’s cell phone number into some holiday call spoofing app and have “Santa” call me at barely past 8am when I was still trying to sleep...

    :annoyed:

I don’t know if any of my readers have received these calls before, but they are very realistic and use an interactive AI so the voice on the other end will actual carry on a conversation with you; At 8am, I wasn’t in the mood, so I hung up...

I loathe call spoofing; One time almost ten years ago, a friend of mine and his mean-spirited friends used a number from a legit local HVAC contractor to call and offer me a job after claiming to have seen my YouTube videos. The first time, they used a random number; The second or third time they used the number for Harris Comfort out of Newtown if I remember correctly. After the second or third time, I was filled with homicidal rage at whoever was doing this, and I absolutely blew my stack at the hapless prankster before hanging up; Just for grins, I called the number back and was absolutely mortified when I got the answering machine for a legit HVAC company (the first time it happened, the number they used was just a random number that had been disconnected). I sent an email to this company and eventually reached the owner by phone. He assured me that they did not just cold call people offering jobs and that if I found out who the people were I should call him back and tell him immediately; I didn’t know who it was at the time...

A short time later, I found out that my friend Tim was the ringleader and had orchestrated the whole thing, and confronted him about it while over at his house; I was drinking a soda at the time and I threw the bottle cap directly at his head...

I then gave him a stark warning; If he and his friends pulled this shit again, I was going to give his name and contact info to Harris Comfort, then sit back with an ice cold beer and enjoy the resulting shitshow. Tim took my threat seriously and the issue stopped, though I do believe I had to threaten one his friends (who I didn’t particularly care for) with his physical violence because he was too stupid to listen to reason...

More recently, it’s been my coworkers from the bar where I used to work, and my neighbors...

Some of the calls I’ve gotten have included someone who claimed I’d left my contact info on his car after hitting it, and a drug dealer saying he had the “stuff from Colombia” for me...

This was in 2017-2019, with the drug dealer call coming in September 2018; Two of my neighbors kept pointing the finger at a each other with regards to who was making the call, and I never learned who doing it, but they got the message to stop because this has happened in over a year...

Back in 2011 or or 2012, my friend Taylor accidentally did something to his cell phone that caused all calls to his number to be redirected to my cell phone...

At least two of his friends who I didn’t know ended up unwittingly calling me before I figured out what was going on, and then when I called Taylor I ended up calling myself!

    :annoyed:

Luckily, I was hanging out with Taylor later that day and he fixed the issue...

And this wasn’t a call spoofing prank, but there was the time in 2014 when a UHAUL collections department decided to call every guy named Charles with my last name within a 50-mile radius after someone who had the same name as me failed to return a rental truck at the agreed-upon time; This collections lady started acting all intimidating, and in a deadpan voice I told her so had no idea what she was talking about, and that I didn’t have a UHAUL truck. She had obviously been at this for sometime and wasn’t willing to let this go without a fight, at which point I went from zero to sixty in a millisecond in terms of going from being nice to totally losing my patience.

I told her that I lived nowhere near where this truck had been rented from (I believe the rental location was somewhere in the Main Line area, while I was almost an hour away in Central Bucks), that my dad had rented a UHAUL that past summer but returned it when he was supposed to, that I had never rented or even driven a UHAUL in my life, and that the only truck on my property was my Tacoma. She apologized, at which time I said goodbye, hung up, and promptly blocked the number...

First and only time anything like that has ever happened!
