Rare site. 2 Pyrite Micas in the same parking lot. The other is the only other one I've seen on the road around here.

    Dark crappy camera phone pic.

I think n0rth has the best color combo on the pyrite micas so far. Either that or just go with black

    Hello everyone,

I have been lurking on this forum for a number of months. I have picked up a ton great information.

A few weeks ago, I picked up a Pyrite Mica 2011 Double Cab TRD Off Road. It is an amazing vehicle. I was really torn between the Timberland Green and the Pyrite Mica. I ended up with the Pyrite Mica, as several previous 4WD vehicles of mine had been green. I hope we have some good snow to play in this winter! :)

    Here are a few pictures.

    Hey all,

Great looking trucks in this thread!

I'm an ex 2007 Tacoma owner (Silver) and am now back in the market. Today I saw my first Tacoma in the Pyrite Mica color...wow. Nice.

So I contacted our local dealer (where I bought my last one new), told him that I was looking for a 2011 SR5, TRD Off-Road Pkg (vs the Sport), Crew Cab, Automatic, 5ft box,...etc, in the Pyrite color. I'm not a hood scoop fan, but want the upgraded seats (better support).

He had to locate it, but it stickered out at $32,778. Must have all the bells and whistles..wow. Ok, so in the same e-mail, says that he can sell it for $30,885 + tax only. (no dealer fees). Beige interior.

I haven't actually spoken to the dealer yet - just emailing so far. I know if I go, I tend to negotiate pretty well, but buy too. Just want to think about it a bit. :D

    So I had a few questions;
    1) How does that offer sound, price wise? I thought I remember getting my 07' for about 11% off sticker, maybe I was dreaming.
    2) Does anyone have one outfitted like this - I want to be sure I get beige interior (with upgraded sport seats)?
    3) Has anyone purchased a color matched cap for the 5ft box? (Pics?)

Never thought a color would be a factor in a purchase, but I think this is one of Toyotas best colors.

Any help, guidance or advice is appreciated!

    Mike

Hey North how did you make those 315's fit ? Whats your height on ground to fender on front and rear ? I'm running about a 3.25" lift and want to know next time around what to do to stuff 315's in there instead of the 285's and not rub

    Hey,

Both the Off-Road and Sport packages come with the upgraded seats. Unless you absolutely know you won't need the features in the OR package that is the one to get. The sport is less focused on off-roading. I'm not saying it cannot but just doesn't have all the bells and whistles the OR does.

Michelin 265/75/16 MS2's, Grillcraft MX series/TOYOTA badging. FJ/SE TRD Anthracite gray wheels. Katzkin leather/heated seats.

Consider after market heated leather seats with your Pyrite Mica.......Katzkins!

A lot of cutting was involved but they fit, I am still waiting to put my flares back on to finish up the fenders but all in all it wasn't that bad to fit them. My build thread has pics of all the cutting and fitting to make it work.

You can get them down from that. I'd say you could probably get them down to 30k otd.

Unfortunately, you aren't going to be able to get the TRD package with the beige interior...only gray. I really wanted the beige interior, but the body colored handles and mirrors of the TRD Sport were a huge selling point for me.

To me, and I know others would disagree, the only REAL difference between the Off Road and the Sport is the rear differential. OR has a locking, whereas the Sport has a limited slip. I think most would agree that the skid plate on the OR is not much better than a sheet of aluminum foil. My grandfather (unintentionally) took the skid plate off his 07 the second time he went hunting. The other difference is the tire size. I liked the idea of 16s over 17s, but the cost per tire difference is only ~$10ea. After having them for a while, I feel like the OR wheels look cheap in comparison.

As for negotiating power, I think mine was listed at 31,5K and I got it for right around 29k. Just remember to offer lower than you intend to purchase, that way you can pull the "let's meet in the middle" card.

I've got just over 2000 mi on mine, and LOVE it. I really like that the PM is not a very common color, and I think it is one of the best looking trucks on the road.

Also, I highly recommend 4x4. It cots a little more up front, but it's the one thing on the truck that will not depreciate. Not to mention a little more traction if/when you ever need it ;)

For what it's worth, I'm getting an actual 18.5-18.9 MPG right now.

I HIGHLY RECOMMED!!!! and sincerely doubt that you could ever regret this as a purchase (in the assumption you can afford it).

I'm done rambling. Hope that helps...

I forgot the Hill Start Assist and Downhill Assist Control. I don't travel much on steep inclines, so that was of no consideration to me.

I also recommend the V6 Tow Package!
