Its interesting, people either hate or love them. I had great experience with them, so did two of my buds.

They are a good summer tire! That's for sure. They wear well for an aggressive tire

Pertaining to the Wildpeaks, SL's have a silica compound which is beneficial in snow and wet weather. The LT's don't employ it presumably use carbon black as the filler......

My KO2’s are pretty good for road noise, haven’t had to try them in the snow yet but I’ve seen a couple of legit reviews on YouTube saying they’re really good for AT’s

the “for AT’s” part is crucial because we all know dedicated winter tires are... dedicated winter tires. Lol

Yeah come back after 15-20k miles and give us a traction report in adverse conditions then. Every single AT tire i have had just drops off like a rock around those miles due to cupping / lack of full depth siping etc.

Absolutely nothing is as good as a dedicated snow tire, but ill bet the defenders beat out every single AT tire in icy / snow grip even without their snowflake rating. ahah

Ive always liked my duratracs they perform great in the snow, they look good but there getting noisy. I probably have 30k on them and they still look new.I will likely go with a set of coopers next round when i move to Florida in the next year

Not sure why you say that in 15-20k miles AT tire "drops like a rock due to cupping and full depth siping". My previous E rated KO2s looked brand new at 18k miles, wore very evenly. They gripped just like the day bought them, in snow, rain, off road etc. Siping goes almost all the way down to wear indicators on most AT tires, not sure whats the issue there. Then, its time to replace right. The only reason i got new C Load KO2 tires was due to premature cracking on sidewall and they got prorated, the E loads had 70-80% of thread remaining.

Tires cup because of bad alignment, not because its an AT or MT tire haha. Any tire will cup with bad alignment. I had many AT LT tires, (duratracs, toyo at2, scorpion ATR, ko2) and they ALL wore perfectly even with proper rotation and alignments.

Pic of my duratracs after 2 years, looked brand new.

I've been stoked with fallen wildpeaks... My first set got nearly 80k. I put 25k a year driving up and down the west coast mtbing and skiing - never been stuck or lost confidence.

Huh, the old BFG KO's were great in snow when I ran them. They were acceptable in the rain too.

I don't much experience with the duratracs in the snow but they are noisy and absolutely suck in the rain.

Have you rotated them? I ran C rated KO2's for 29K miles and they were still quiet and looked new when I swapped them for bigger tires.

As far as the topic here:

No AT, whether 3PMSF or not, will perform in winter like a dedicated winter tire.

Some are better than others, though. So far, Yokohama Geolander AT's were the best I've used, followed by the Kumho Road Venture AT.

The KO2's were decent, but definitely not the best.

I'm on Toyo AT3's this year and just waiting for some actual snow to try them out.

I used to sell tires and now work in a road dept. where I’m driving in snow and adverse conditions regularly. What should be obvious is designated winter tires are best, but each person’s argument either way has merit. BFG ATs do well in the snow with the right driver... same with Duratracs, Wildpeaks, Toyo, etc... as for the road noise, there is many reasons this could be. Of course aggressive tread but also cupping due to alignment or worn parts, improper rotations, over/under pressurized or even road conditions. It seems a lot of people are “experts” when ultimately the tire isn’t what was at fault.
