    Hi

I'm Trading in 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro in voodoo blue for a 2021 4runner TRD Pro in magnetic gray. The Tacoma has 26,750 miles. In excellent shape, garaged and maintained. Dealer trade in is 38,500. They won't take anything of the sticker price of the 4runner at 51K including delivery dealer fees. What do you think of this deal? I went to two dealers and they are within 100 bucks of each other.

I think you can squeeze another couple grand for your Tacoma. MSRP on the TRD Pro line is about right unless you get very lucky.

You should be able to get the 2021 4Runner Offroad Premium with moonroof and side steps for about 40k depending on where you live.

    I paid $37,700 for mine in 2016.

The off roads are nice too! I'm going for the Pro version. I have no real logical reason for getting the pro over the off road other than i WANT the Pro. I've typically trade in my vehicles every two to 3 years and usually get a pretty good deal. This deal is not as good as previous trades I've done, but not horrible. I may actually keep this one for awhile

The 2021 4runner Pros are not easy to find, especially in the color i want. Retail on my Tacoma is about 44K. You can get a 2021 Tacoma Pro for about 47.5K which has the power seat, updated head unit, lighter wheels, and nicer headlights. If I was going to spend 44K on a used one and you can get new for 47.5K i would come up with the difference as its not that far off the used retail price

True but factor in that your Tacoma is a rare color on the TRD Pro line so the dealer will sell it in no time. I think $40-$41k is a fair trade-in on it.

I came from a 5th Gen 4Runner to the taco. The differences between a Pro 4Runner and non-Pro 4Runner is not as big as the Taco differences.

Main differences are the wheels, TRD Pro grill and suspension. If you’re going to put a lift and wheels, it’s not worth the $6k+ mark up to go from TRD Offroad to TRD Pro. If you’re going to keep it mostly stock and plan to keep it long term then it might be worth going for the Pro. Magnetic Grey is a great color on the 4Runners. Hope this helps and good luck! 5th gen 4Runners are bullet-proof!

I plan on keeping it stock. Also will probably keep it longer than usual. I semi retiring Dec 31 so my millage will go way down. Prior to covid I was doing 28K a year. I will try to squeeze the dealer on the trade some more. If not cash maybe extended warranty or protection for the paint.

I almost got a 4Runner over the Tacoma when shopping for my 2020. Decided to go with Tacoma again because the 4Runner Pro lacked a lot of features when compared to the Tacoma Pro. No BSM, no RCTA, no MTM. The headlights weren't updated (personal preference) and the interior did feel somewhat outdated as most people say. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the 4Runners and if it had all the same features of the taco, I'd probably be driving one right now.

Regardless, I think you'll enjoy it. That 4.0 is a proven engine.

Go in 2 days before the end of the month (any month) and especially December cause it’s also end of the year and negotiate hard for the price you want and be firm and ready to walk.

End of month they are less concerned about sales price as they are sales quotas because they have to turn in their sales sheet to the boss man.

Got a 2020 TRD OR list at $41,800 for $38,000 out the door (T,T,L) negotiated on Jan 30, 2020. Drove it home Jan 31, 2020.

Forget the 4 runner. Get a land cruiser
Last year is 2021 for them. Drive it for 10 years until gasoline is unavailable

I was in the same position, but could not bring myself to let my Taco go (Voodoo blue like yours) for the 4Runner. Ended up looking at the Land Cruiser Heritage edition as others have suggested for all the same reasons: Reliability, build quality, perfect size for the family, last year for the 200 series, etc. Was able to score a MY 2021 for $5600.00 under MSRP after calling multiple dealers that wouldn't budge from window sticker.

I'm super happy with my decision and will be keeping the LC mostly stock. It's definitely a keeper, and I've been very happy with it so far! This decision has made me bold with my Taco, which will be lifted with 35s and converted to a full on over-landing rig (whatever that is!)

Best of luck to you in your hunt for your next rig!

Just get the base model 4runner 4x4 @ $39,000. Should be near even trade.

Land cruiser is almost twice the money, way more HP and torque than I need. Its a nice machine however I like the look of the 4runner over the land cruiser. The 4runner should easily last 10 years unless I get bored with it and want something new and shinny in 2 or 3 years, which more than likely be the case.

Along with the Tacoma, I have a 2018 4Runner Limited. I got a deal on it at the time for $41k. I really like it, including I prefer it's transmission. The 4Runner also has great visibility and interior room. Quality built too, probably better? My Limited also has the full-time TC (plus part-time and low). Great vehicle!

Sounds like a fair trade-in at 38,500. I just ordered a 21 trd pro tacoma myself because they're offering me 41k on a trade in on my 19 pro tacoma with 14k miles. I paid 46k for it 2yrs ago.

Have you tried private on the sale - inventories are low, $38k seems a little light. Good luck on the adventure and the new truck

Not necessarily. On most cars you can get 0% financing and on like the Pro's 2.59%.
