I think knowing he's always in deer / antelope is pretty damn exciting and rewarding. Other side of the coin hunting out west - you can go an entire season without seeing anything.

Hell yeah I get excited. Usually short lived. I'm being more picky about the Bucks I shoot and most don't meet my standards... Seeing deer usually means I'm doing something right.

This is just one photo from this year. This is around 8 in the morning. Not all deer in that herd were in this picture. Recently purged all my field pics from my phone. I have a few on my dslr that you can probably count 70 dots in the field and they are all deer and some antelope.

Part of the herd of 200 head of antelope in the area. Pretty sure it’s a wintering range for them.

I get a little excited if I see 1 or 15 deer. There’s always a possibility of a big one close by, especially if you have pictures of a few big ones.

Well I’m a little pissed off. I got off work early and decided to check 2 cameras I have set up on piece of public land. NOPE! No cameras. Both of them where gone.

I’m actually a bit impressed the lasted a year on public land. They are only $25 cameras from Walmart , but still hate the damn thieves.

I had one stolen on public as well. Don't really care about the camera but I want my batteries and card back!
    Side note:
A couple of years ago someone stole a card from my camera (but left the camera) and get this....they left $9 on my camera in a ziplock bag! Honest thieves!

At some point you have to figure cell cams will get much cheaper and stealing them won’t be worth it when you can take a photo to the cops. At least that’s what I’m hoping, lol.

Where I have hunted in Mississippi (big woods, national forest etc.) I can go a good amount of time not seeing deer just because the density is so low. I saw 4 deer last year in 15 or so sits and maybe 10 the year before in 30+ sits, granted it is public and terrain I am not used to hunting.

Compared to public in Missouri I probably averaged to see 2 every sit and a shooter buck every other sit over 13 or so sits.

Compared to Missouri private I would see 10ish most sits.

public vs private the pressure makes a big difference in how many you will see in my opinion just because of what you can get away with on deer with little pressure vs high pressure.

past that maybe I just got caught up in a fad of hunting public land but for some reason I really enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that anyone else could have killed the deer you did but you were the one with the right combination of luck and skills to do it.

I still get amped up just watching deer sometimes when I see lots of them, and especially depending on how I am set up it can get pretty exciting (on the ground with little cover and deer close)

Sometimes it is hard for me to stay motivated not seeing them in areas that are harder to hunt but it also makes seeing one deer that much more exciting, and if you have trail cameras they always leave you something to desire and likely be disappointed by in the end haha.

I pulled all my cameras last week. I figure people may get to roaming around and decide to borrow one being as it’s end of season here.
