What Tundra calipers were you looking at? I plan to do the Tundra caliper upgrade on my X-Runner, and found Tundra 08-14ish calipers to be less than $100 each on Rock Auto.

 

I didn't buy Tundra calipers. My 02 Tundra came with 13WE(WEAK) calipers from the factory. Some guy discovered we could run GX460/5th Gen 4Runner 14WA calipers if we have a machine shop modify the ears. OEM 14A calipers are $150 each vs $50 each I paid for Raybestos. That's why I mentioned OEM were too pricy.

Rock Auto also gave me $100 for my 13WE cores.

 

I went with Callahan GX460 remans in the front, and GX470 remans in rear. Brakes, Calipers, and rotors for $280 shipped for front and rear

 

I did PowerStop brakes, rotors and pads all around, ended up having to do it on the wife’s 2015 GX460 when her brakes started pulsing also, made a huge difference

 

I prefer Zalinsky because the Auto Parts King himself said "I make car parts for the American working man, because that's what I am, and that's who I care about."

 

Will the GX460 calipers be a direct bolt on or do they require some modification? What size calipers come on the 470's from the factory?

 

You probably want to ask this in a Tundra group bud.

 

@SearArtist turned me onto this option. Perhaps he can provide more insight. Mine won't arrive until next week.

I'm asking if they are a direct bolt on to the 470. I've already installed them on my Tundra but it required having a machine shop take 3mm off the ears.

 

they are but you need to get 10-15 calipers. They changed in 2016 and do not fit the 470’s.

I don't own a GX. I mentioned last week that I'm in the research phase. Archangel said he was doing the GX460 caliper upgrade and I simply asked if they were a direct bolt on because I was curious.
