Any reason why someone would do dextrose as a intra mix?

I tried, back in the day, but it totally messed up my stomach. For me, what worked best was a small meal/shake with a little carbs (depending on whether I was dieting or not) 90 mins to an hour before hitting the gym. If I was dieting hard, I'd maybe have some BCAAs while working out, but really i think the impact is negligible. If your nutrition is ok and you're not in the gym for longer than an hour and a half, you shouldn't really need it...it's more about selling supplements honestly. If you are destroying yourself in the gym for huge long workouts, then maybe you might get some benefit...but I never saw any to be honest.

Edit to say that I never was very much concerned with performance though. BBrs are about aesthetics and relative performance so you're probably better off taking advice from @Travish325 or @strengthordie

Recently I think I developed an allergy to artificial sweetener as I can't have protein shakes at all anymore without it destroying my GI tract a few hours later. It's a real inconvenience...I love a good protein shake lol.

See it’s funny you drank BCAA’s cause then most people say you get those just from Whole Foods. It’s funny how everyone can do stuff so different but all be strong as fuck. I try to ask as many people as I can and try to see what works for me from it.

Yeah I am exclusively whole foods right now, but when dieting, a BCAA drink would help (maybe) avoid catabolism without adding calories. But you have the right attitude...treat yourself as an experiment, pay attention, and do what's right for your body.

This week, to give my joints a break I decided to do single sets of 100 reps with almost no weight. Workout was basically Squats, straight arm press downs, upright rows, incline bench. 100 reps of each....starting monday and adding like 5lbs each day if possible. I can barely lift my arms now and my whole lats almost cramped after the press downs today and my quads feel like someone hit me with a bat. Lol...I was not expecting this. That said, nice little hypertrophy boost if you're in a rut and care about such things.

I use BCAAs. I like having them on long runs and hard efforts just because, why not toss in some easily accessible aminos for the body during such an effort? Especially when consuming high protein foods during such an event isn't going to happen. But they also help your body absorb water so they are nice to have in an electrolyte drink for endurance events. Fun fact about BCAAs a lot of people don't know.

I’ve been hearing guys like like John Meadows and Justin Harris talk about intra workout nutrition for a while, I haven’t tried it before just due to being a cheap ass, (I haven’t used pre-workout in years). on my next bulk I think I’ll give it a shot for 12 weeks.

Not sure what brand you prefer, but I recently found the ON brand that specifically includes electrolytes if that is a bonus

John Meadows, Shelby Starnes (who was my diet guy) and Dante Trudel are probably my three biggest influences in BBing directly....I mean there is a lot of knowledge out there and I have read a lot of it, but those three are pretty damn amazing. I was on a forum with them (and a bunch of pros) back in the day and the amount of profound shit being dropped casually in those days was amazing.

I make my own drinks up with individual ingredients so I can customize for that particular run in that weather, terrain, and distance. I do use ON unflavored BCAA powder though.

Race day I'm looking at 3-4 times the amount of electrolytes that most advertised drinks will have.

As I get into the longer distances I may want to play around with carbs in my drink since not a huge fan of gels. @Travish325 endurance drinks are going to utilize primarily sucrose and dextrose, what makes karbolyn more special? Is it metabolized differently?
I just worry about my stomach with the carbs.

It's a complex carbohydrate mix from rice/potatoes/corn and it actually digests easier and faster than sugars without causing stomach issues. I can only handle a little bit of dextrose based intra but I have had 100g of carbs from karbolyn over a 3.5 hour training day and I always feel great.
