did she do a rapid test or nasal swab?

the lady who did my nasal swab caused me a major nose bleed for about an hour and cause my sinuses to inflame to the point of being one of the worst headaches I’ve ever had, and I have chronic migraines.

The way she did the nasal swabs was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. She was a fat ass lazy fuck who I could tell didn’t want to be outside in the cold so she was taking out her micro-aggression on people getting tested.

It was the afternoon of Christmas Eve so she didn’t exactly get the Urgent Care’s A team. She did say they jammed it pretty far up there.

Funny thing is we called her brother in Hickory to tell him don’t bother coming down tomorrow and he said the prison system he works in won’t use the rapid tests because of the inaccuracy. I think we’ll go do the 4 day one Saturday to be sure.

To clarify, it was a rapid test that was the nasal swab.

The 4 day one is only taking 4 days just due to the shear volume of tests being administered. Sometimes it can take up to 6 days to get the results back. When we weren't testing as much people were getting those results in 24-48 hrs.

Hate to hear about that prayers with you and sucks for Christmas for y'all. Hope she doesn't get any of the weird stuff.

Thanks Skip. No pre-existing conditions and not overweight and in her 30s so hopefully nothing wonky.

Sucks. I'm in the 14day COVID exposure penalty box for work. I was in a meeting with a guy who got the sniffles the next day and went and got tested and was positive. HR called me halfway through work yesterday and told me to GTFO see you in 14days unless you show symptoms. They told me I can come back in 10 if I take a test and it's negative but I'm not doing that, I'll WFH for the last 4.

Crappiest part is we were supposed to go visit some of my wife's family in TN for the weekend that we haven't ever really spent time with and this crapped all over these plans.

Thats lucky. The chick that I'm seeing she's a nurse and does pretty much all covid and told me about the testing stuff recently. I've got some pretty good insight into a lot of what's happening on a normal day to day. It doesn't worry me.

Yeah the shit with taste and smell is weird as well as some other issues that aren't major. Hopefully she'll get over it quick.

That sucks. Yeah she’s upset that she won’t be seeing her godmother who’s down from New York. I was looking forward to the prime rib and ham her brother is cooking.

If I had to get tested because I showed symptoms of covid I'd be at the damn testing facility everyday.

I’m no doctor but it seems like as long as you’re not overweight or have a Vitamin D deficiency this whole thing is less of a problem than the flu.

Yeah that's about 99% of cases for the 65 and under crowd or any other bad pre-existing condition. There is a nasty pneumonia that follows this and the deaths pretty much everyone has DVTs. There are bacterial pneumonia's that are far worse and Pneumonia so far as far as diseases is the #1 killer without any comorbidities at over 100k. I spend too much time on CDC paying attention to all the broken down statistics and reading a lot from other countries and professionals not just the ones with a big podium to speak from.

That being said I've known quite a few people our age that have had it. This disease presents so differently for pretty much every case which is very different than the flu or other diseases. I've known people pretty much cold symptoms to in the hospital on oxygen all our age. The ones that went to the hospital ended up with a nasty pneumonia and still have lingering breathing, heart and lung issues from it. Most felt like pure shit for about a week or so like said felt like their head was being slammed into a steel post and couldn't stop coughing and just physically no strength or energy.

If you look pure statistically from the 60s flu, 1918, and others and compare populations, densities, death rates, and # of people that had it, control measures, you'll see some very interesting things.

I need some help from the collective gentleman. The gf would like to spend new years in the mountains around some snow and since im more of a beach bum...does anybody have any suggestions for pretty/scenic drives whilst snow is on the ground? Fire roads and trail riding are not a requirement.

The BRP is the obvious choice but it’ll be closed if there’s snow, or even if it’s too cold.

Lots of nice roads in Pisgah/Brevard. But not going to have huge views like BRP. 105 has nice views is several spots/wisemans.
