That was a live Green Moray eel that a took when I was diving the in the Fla Keys a few yrs back

 

What the hell do you even use to take one of those?

Catch it like a fish with a hook? Net it and pull it on the boat and beat it with a hammer?

 

I have hooked them before with rod and reel but its rare and you just cut the line when you bring it to the surface. He was every bit 6 foot long from what I could see he didn't want his picture taken

Sounds like a case for dynamite fishing.

My son dives up here in the Pacific Northwest and has encountered them on several of his dives. He says they are very territorial and rarely aggressive unless threatened. I guess there are a couple who are like big puppy dogs. One he refers to as the grumpy old man, will come out to greet him and let him scratch behind his “ears” before going back into his hole.

 

The dive captain said he is usually friendly I wasn't going to find out other wise.

 

This guy was PISSED

Oh NO he came from under the sand I didn't even see him until he popped up

 

That’s crazy...do you dive often? I impressed that my son does. I struggle with the whole breathing under water thing...

 

Give him a taste of his own medicine with a cattle prod.

 

I use to dive weekly and some times daily when I lived in the keys its been a couple yrs now....

 

They are not that aggressive but if you provoke them its on....

 

I used to have one. I swear that thing would throw a 2’ flame out the end of the barrel when I shot it.
