Congratulations. I am looking for that same truck. There are none to be found in the entire Southern California region. I've got a deposit in at a dealer. Hopefully they can get one for me.

That quote was from Toyota of Rockwall. I ended up buying from a different dealer though as they had the color I wanted, and was able to do a little better of a deal. I ended up getting 13.3% off of MSRP

Mine was 11.3% off sticker. You did much better. I bought my OR at Freeman.

Gotcha. I couldn’t get Freeman to budge on the advertised price much. But, I was also doing everything over the phone and not in person. I didn’t want to drive all over DFW asking for quotes. If they gave a decent one on the phone I kept them on my list. If not, they got removed. Haha

I've tried several dealers and none will do so. I'm not sure I understand what "order one" means. If you can oder a truck and it will be built for you, than no dealer i can find will do that. I did get one dealer to take a $500 deposit to hold a truck for me when they find one in their future allocation. Please enlighten me on "ordering."

Wtf? You can, or should be able to, order whatever the hell you want to from the dealer. That's what I did. Went to the dealer, sat down w the sales guy and went through what I wanted line by line. It was built a month later, and is now in transit to me from the factory.

Yup. That’s what “ordering one” is. You don’t really get them to make it the way you want, just whenever they do make it the way you want, you get it. The more rarity of the combination of options the longer it could take. I wanted black with the orange stitching interior with zero options. That took an extra month and a half.

The whole process of ordering has proven to be much more difficult than I could have imagined. I have asked at least 4 dealerships in San Diego and they flat out told me they don't do that. Like I said, I do have an "order" with one local dealer but I have no clue how long I'm going to have to wait. Hopefully I hear something before too long. It's been 2 weeks and haven't heard a peep. I know realistically it will probably be several months.

I do not claim to know whether a Tacoma can be ordered from scratch. However, from what I see, the dealer receives allocations that the dealer can tweak. In my case, a TRD OR 6MT with premium and technology package was already allocated. I got the dealer to change the color, add a factory tonneau, and add various port options. It was made individually mine, but was made that way by intercepting the allocation and altering it per my request. I believe that this is as close that you will get to a special order, but a situation such as this should be enough. The drive train and the premium/tech packages are what you cannot change. If you want a different color without packages, no problem. If you want a tonneau on an existing premium with 6MT no problem. But the drivetrain and premium/tech package already has to be in the pipeline.

Alexander Toyota Yuma, AZ. I tried a bit to work with this dealership as I am also in So. Cal. However, they couldn't secure the TRD Sport in Cement Gray that I wanted. Also didn't look forward to the 4 hour drive each way to deal with them. A few people have had good luck and timing with them from CA.

Did this have any other accessories? MSRP of $38,800 seems a little high without any other add-ons?

It's Seattle for ya. They mark up the TRD Pros to 55k because they can move them so damn fast and people will still pay it.
