Hi all, I just removed one camshaft per the FSM instructions. It now states to remove the other exhaust camshaft. To do so I need to secure the gear with a service bolt. The bolt hole on the gear is out of reach (too low). I would need to turn the engine to get access to that bolt hole. Can I turn the engine to get access to the bolt hole, then line up the timing dots, then remove the second camshaft? I’m just not sure if it’s ok to rotate the 5vzfe while one of three camshafts is uninstalled.

Actually never mind it says RHS exhaust then RHS intake. I can just do the whole RHS put it back together then move on to the LHS.

No problemo. You can remove the timing belt and spin the camshafts and the crank to your heart's content. Then just before you reinstall the timing belt rotate the camshafts and the crankshaft until the marks on the camshaft sprockets and the crankshaft are all at 12:00.

Thank you. And just to confirm the sprockets will have the two dot marks aligning on all 4 sprockets?

On all THREE sprockets. Two for the camshafts, one for the crank. When correctly positioned all timing marks will point up and align with the marks on whatever metal is behind them (can't recall at the moment).

Now, after you get the belt on and the tension relieved from the tensioner, one or two of the marks might appear to be just a bit off. Not to worry.

Thanks I figured it out. I was thinking I had to align the 2 dot marks on both heads. When I got to the LHS side I read the manual carefully and noticed the 1 dot marks must be aligned for the RHS side. Once I lined those up, the screw hole was accessible.
