For a first bow like others have said, try as many brands you can. If you like Matthew’s don’t forget to try Mission, they are a sub brand of Matthew’s and are excellent and a fraction of Matthew’s flagship prices. PSE has some very forgiving bows. I wouldn’t hang up on a brand, find what feels best when you draw and how you shoot them when you test. Then try finding that model used or a new last year model bow to save some $.

Saw the same fork I had at 5 or so yards the other day. He hung out around 30 this time for a while then we both watched a button buck (I assume from how he was acting) going all kinds of wild. Looked like he was one some drugs or something. He ran by 200ish yards away full sprint one way out of sight then 30 seconds later he came back though going the other way full sprint till he was out of sight. He then sprinted back into sight and Beelined straight to the fork and started dropping his head trying to fight him until the fork would drop his head then the button would run away and come back and do the same thing again. I wish I took a video of it but I was too busy trying to pick my jaw up off the ground because I had no idea what was happening.

Drew back on a coyote today but the only time he (or she) stopped was behind a tree. That's #2 I've seen while hunting since Thursday. :fingerscrossed:

Anyone good at aging deer from teeth? I don’t care no matter how old he is just curious and I would like to learn how to age them better. I could narrow it down to between 2.5 and 4.5 but other than that I got nothing.

I realized I should just text a guy I know who was in charge of the deer program for Mississippi for a few years and has done a ton of research. Don’t know why I didn’t sooner but he said 3.5. I don’t think I’ll be doing much more archery hunting this year but I might try to get another with a rifle if I can.

Two little bucks in the back yard this morning. I was watching out the kitchen window as two yearling nubbin' bucks and their mother were eating and suddenly they all looked up at the same time and bolted. This is why. Four bucks from my kitchen window. Before 10am. And late season no less! Apparently, one of the best stand sites I ever selected, but I'm having a little trouble getting the climbing stand chains around the refrigerator...
