Alabama Quick Ride Magic Thread

Hello Bama!

Ever got a hankering for a spur of the moment off-road adventure, but didn’t want to be all lonely? Sure you have! and boy do I have the solution for you!

My thinking was to have a central thread where last minute trip plans could start.

Someone could post “Hey, I want to ride tonight or this weekend. Who’s down?” Before you know it, that person and a friend or two have had a grand ole time in their 4x4 that took minimal planning and effort! Like magic!

Trips that require a lot more planning and advance notice probably need to have their own threads. For those of us who struggle to plan too far in advance because of work/life, maybe this thread can help get us back into our natural habitat- our Tacoma outdoors.

I can't do week night rides. 4am comes pretty early for me, usually it's the weekends, but even weekends are super busy for us right now with everything going on. I would love more than anything to get away for a day to ride and camp somewhere!

 

*Up for grabs currently is a night trip sometime tonight in the Talladega National Forest. Two confirmed so far. More details soon!

 

I heard that! I stay pretty busy and unpredictable with work so I’m hoping people like us can post “hey I’ve got a few hours randomly on this day” and maybe someone else will too and we can still get to enjoy some riding!

 

Looking like 7:30pm tonight at 600-1 trailhead off of 148 if anyone else wants to hop in the caravan! So far we have five vehicles

 

I love the idea of this thread.

 

I’m hoping it takes off! Might could get silly and share a google calendar or something with date, places, people going...something to easily revert back to.

 

I may be down for a ride next month sometime

well while I’m here, I’ll be heading to Hollytre Offroad just west of Huntsville today! I’ll be there at 9 through the majority of the day. If you come out, look for my rig and say hello! Service is spotty there...

 

Anyone riding today? Kids have opened their gifts already, ate breakfast and I think we're ready to go hit the trails somewhere.

Not sure yet, but we want to get out and ride! Thinking of some roads in the TNF besides 600.

Ah gotcha. That’s about a 2 and a half hour ride for me to get there

 

I might be able to this afternoon. Pipe is frozen somewhere before our meter, so I’ve got to keep an eye on that and hope it thaws out...hope my pump didn’t burn out.
