I apologize if this isn’t the right area to post this, but I could really use your guys’ help in tracking down a cement color taco in the US. I’d be willing to travel to Pick it up.

Been shopping for a new taco, and the Asking price of any TRD OR in automatic, 4x4, DCSB is insane to me...one dealer in SoCal quoted me $5k above sticker.

How was pricing for the cement color ones pre covid? This ridiculous?

So far, no dealer in Cali is willing to go more than $1K below MSRP. Best offer I got was 38K (before taxes and fees) for the config I mentioned above.

Definitely willing to buy out of state, but these things hold their value so well that I think I’d prefer new

It took them 2 months to figure out how to mail the title to me for an out of state purchase. Was really great having the truck just sit in my garage. I’d avoid.

That said, I spent $32.5 for TRDOR 4x4 DCSB.

Got mine at Freeman Toyota a few weeks back - they had a for CPO's from their loaner fleet for sale - all 3 sat on the lot for 4-5 weeks and the morning I ended up going, they sold all three...go figure. Their inventory sells quick so you just have to keep watching. They list on autotrader, not cargurus IIRC.

    End of 2019 for a new 2019.

    It was highly unpleasant.

    Nope. Not for cement.

they wanted MSRap for a sky silver one. Meanwhile in Arizona, they want 3k below MSRP. Will likely buy in AZ.

I just bought a left over 2020 TRD sport premium for $2230 off sticker at Toyota 101 in Redwood City Ca. That included $1000 cash back from Toyota on the 2020’s. Most dealers in the SF Bay Area will only sell 2021’s at msrp.

FWIW I searched high and low for a few months back in July - September in the Bay Area and SoCal. It was difficult to find dealers w/ inventory that didn't already have a deposit. Once I found a truck I was interested in there was usually a markup above MSRP. No luck talking them down in most cases. I ended up talking to a dealer in SoCal that optioned a 2021 4x4 OR DCSB how I wanted it and sold it for MSRP.

Looked out of state as well. Found better deals in most cases, spoke to a few dealers willing to go below MSRP. But the $2k-$3k in savings didn't seem to be worth it once you paid for shipping the truck and any other snags.

If I were to go back and do it again, I'd probably drive out to Texas and try to get the best deal and break in the truck by driving it back to SoCal

Also keep in mind you can usually get the accessories / options (tube steps, door guards, etc.) for cheaper just shopping around after you get the truck you want. Doesn't have to have everything on it at when you drive it off the lot.

I say that because I usually see some good deals coming from Texas in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-are-you-paying-for-your-2021-tacoma-price-thread.685728/

Also keep in mind Texas and southern states usually use SET or GST as your dealer's middleman, so while the numbers look good off "msrp" this price is marked up above the actual Toyota msrp.
