HEPA filter

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    I called BS on this, but when i went in for my 5k oil change, they tried tell me that my HEPA filter in my truck was really dirty...i've only got 20k miles on it...honestly, how dirty could it be?

    here's something i found on ebay...is it it?
    cabin filter

    and if so, where is it located so that i can look myself?

    nevermind...i found out about it myself...its behind the glove box w/ hinged door and a screw apparently...someone else on another site said they can get dirtier than an engine air filter. (the power of yahoo search) i guess i'll take a look at mine sunday and check the dirtiness and get that one off ebay if i need it. some ebay ad said that they should be changed every 15k...i'd have fighured that should have been covered under the TLC package..but oh well..the dealer wanted $32-36 and u can get em off ebay for $14.50 including shipping....watch out for it

    Aquamist 2D meth/water injection kit, URD Exhaust, DT Long Tube Headers, Hood Struts, and lots of other miscellaneous stuff...
    about every 15k miles sounds about right, a lot of it depends on the conditions of the area your driving around in. Here in AZ, they get changed sooner.

    The cost is probably $36 because they add a small installation charge to it. Go to their part dept. and ask for one and i'd be willing to bet it's about $18

    getting there....
    hey man, you can go buy one of those big home air duct filters from wal-mart, save your self some money, and make probably 6 from one filter. alot of people have gone this route. as for the sides of the filter, small strips of cardboard and a little super glue go a long way. just tryin to save ya some $$!!

    Hodge, the 05's don't even come with a filter. Just an empty space. Toyota parts ripping forty more dollars off of us. I guess the $28,000 wasn't enough.

    well i just went outside and looked at mine and it is legitimately dirty, so i'll order the one off ebay next week. its really easy to get to as well. u dont even need to take off any screws. i removed the glovebox and there a small flap...like 3/4"...that pops right down and u can slide the filter out. pretty easy to do.

    its a hepa filter to filter the a/c air coming into the cab of the truck...aka cabin filter

    you could also call pontiac see if they have any left. just checked mine and it was dirty!!! and i only have 16,000 on my truck, so blew it out with an air compressor until i get a new one.

    What exactly do you need a cabin filter for. I owned the beamer for 7 years and never even heard of it much less replace it. sounds like a stupid regulation that the factory has to meet that doesnt really do anything

    it keeps out allergens...kinda like the hepa filters on vaccuums. its just a way to improve the quality of the air inside the cab. i think i'll let mine get a lil dirtier and then change it.

    I like your advice of just "cleaning" it for now. I think that is what I am going to do. Not enough money for the things I want, so this thing is getting the back burner.

    A HEPA (IPA: [ˈhɛpə]) filter is a type of air filter. "HEPA" is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air filter" (as defined by the United States Department of Energy).[1] The DOE version of the acronym is actually incorrect. The original derivation of HEPA represented "High Efficiency Particulate Arresting" filter. The term "Particulate Air" conveys no meaning.[2]

    This type of air filter can remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 micrometres (µm) in diameter. Particles of this size are the most difficult to filter and thus the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Particles that are larger or smaller are filtered with even higher efficiency.

    Bug shield, window visors, skid plate, rust proofing, tonneau cover, paint & upholstery protection, side step bars, navigation system.
    HEPA filters for the cabin is over kill. HEPA filters were intended for applications such as hospitals, asbestos abatement etc. If money is an issue, then you sure can do without the HEPA unless a loved one has serious allergies.
