Any suggestions for LED fog bulb upgrade? Budget tops out at $150 so options are limited. Understand the best route is full replacement w KC but more than I can spend.

    Thanks

Best LED fog for under $150 is the OEM LED fogs, they outperform Morimoto and are less expensive. See the review here: Toyota LED fogs. If you can swing a little more, you may be able to find the Diode Dynamics SS3 Sports (covered here: Diode Dynamics SS3) for just a little over your budget on some year end sales (TBD). The SS3s are much higher performing and available in a selective yellow which is more ideal for poor weather conditions.

Note that replacement LEDs in the factory halogen fogs should be avoided, performance is poor and they cause increased glare for oncoming drivers and reduced performance in the poor weather conditions fogs are intended for. The worst offenders by far are any kind of 'switchback' multi-color bulb, as those products are fundamentally flawed by requiring multiple emitter sets to support multi-color, however for a replacement LED to attempt to work properly the LED must be centered. Because there are two sets required for multi-color, neither emitter set can be centered in the correct location causing far worse performance and more glare. There is a reason why no reputable manufacture makes such products, and only gimmicky companies reselling low quality Chinese products.

Thanks Crash, gonna go with the Tungsram Nighthawks. Looking for better performance and after research and your advice it seems LED isn't the best option.

Best replacement bulb choice. Your profile doesn’t say what year/trim truck you have. Note that non-TRD trucks and 2020+ and Canadian trucks all have H16 fogs, which those are not available. You need the high performance H11 fogs that come on 16-19 TRD trucks or 12-15 2nd Gens for the Tungsram Nighthawk Xenons to be compatible.

I think every led bulb suggestion should have a bot that automatically quotes you.

It's a G3 TRD OR, so scratch the Nighthawks it seems. Best fog replacement of any typr on the limited $100 or so? Apologies for the back and forth and appreciate the insight.

For an inexpensive 2020 upgrade I’d look to pickup some OEM 16-19 H11 TRD fog assemblies from the marketplace section. People often sell them for cheap when swapping to an LED assembly. The swap to an H11 fog upgrade alone will be significant, the TRD units have a much wider pattern area than the H16 fogs and are significantly higher in output. From there adding the Tungsram Xenons will enhance performance even further. If you find the right deal on fog takeoffs you should still be able to come close to the $100 mark and sell your OEM units for someone looking to add fogs to their SR5 to help offset a little cost.
