The low beams have less throw.
The high beams look brighter, but what good is that in a populated area.

if you count the dividing lines on the driver side of each picture they look very comparable concerning throw and better with the immediate area.

needs picture of cutoff line taken with a manual exposure camera on the same settings.

They certainly look brighter on the pavement, but that is mostly useless light. How's the beam pattern on a vertical surface the same distance from the vehicle between the two. Not getting flashed doesn't mean much these days, there are tons of idiots driving around with LED drop in bulbs, it's becoming a regular night time commute thing to see several. The displacement of the diodes from the center plane of the bulb assembly looks to be on the worse side of most.

Debatable about the downgrade. But as I said, this is a comparison to stock. I have not done any sort of H9 conversion nor put any different halogens in there.

You should adjust them after a lift anyway

They seem to have the same throw, especially in these projectors

I agree. However, I haven't been able to get a good photo for reference because of the crap piled up in my garage and the fact that the wall is bare OSB. The outside isn't much better due to the light pollution from the parking lot. That's the the only reason I didn't include a side by side shot. However, I assure you they are the exact same cutoff. I measure this by physically marking the location of the cutoff point from approximately 20' on the OSB and then comparing after install. Not to mention the real world driving.

Sure, not getting flashed doesn't mean much. But not getting flashed after 5 months and well over 10,000 miles means a little more. I also touched on the diode sizing in the review. The difference is negligible from a driving standpoint, but measurable on the light itself. But, as I stated, if my measurement holds true, it is thinner than the thinnest LED bulb tested to date in the megathread.

@mds08 I installed my SL1s. Did you have to adjust the collar on any of your bulbs to line them up properly as per the instructions?

You evidently did not read my review, then. The entire reason I made this was because they had NOT been tested in the mega thread. I also made a few comments about HR in the post.

I have no direct comparison, however, my measurement of the width showed them to be closer to stock than the Hikari bulbs. But, that being said, take my measurement with a grain of salt.

Mine went in and were just fine. No adjustments made. I made this drive every Christmas day to some family who lives in the county. We normally drive my wife's 4runner but I wanted to put my SL1s to the test on these country roads which are pitch ass dark, even more so than where I live. I drove out there with the SL1s and they were perfect, could see great distance and the side of the roads were nicely lite. I had some time and for the heck of it put in my GE mega 130s and drove around some. Absolutely no comparison at all. My LEDs went back in. My SL1s weres clearly a better performing light all around. The difference was extremely noticeable! Even Ray Charles would be able to see the difference.

Actually, thats exactly what they are designed for and the technology is constantly evolving. Definitely not perfect, but if you actually read my review, you'd see my thought process behind this particular light. But, to each their own. Thank you for your input.

I have them and think they are awesome. I gauged them by how much I could see when off roading at night. Massive improvement over stock. However, when I first put them in I was getting flashed constantly (have a 3" lift). Had to adjust them down which does reduce the low beam effectiveness a bit.

With high beams on, they work so well that I may not have bought the Ridgid Industries grill + light if I had gotten the SVs sooner. Would have saved me a grand.

Well, I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. Like I said, to each their own. This is my view and thought process behind it.

People see things in their own right mind as they want to see it, some want to be a know it all and the hell with what you think or your first hand knowledge. I too agree completely with you, as companies change and improve things. Like computers they change daily,so to sit here and listen to someone on the forums tell you your wrong is a complete waste of your time. I run the LEDs in my stock OEM housings and I couldn't be happier. In fact I can see further, and have a wider throw of light, it looks better and I'm totally sold and loving them. So for someone to tell me I'm wrong would just be like, right okay, and move on. Their opinion is of no value when seeing is believing.
