In California it’s a misdemeanor to conceal and handgun with out a CCW. So....if the state puts you in shitty positions with garbage laws...I would take the misdemeanor and still just have it on my person.

    Great information here!

For what it’s worth Blue Alpha and Hank’s make the best quality gun belts out there. Blue alpha for low profile and little to no buckle interference. Hank’s for a more traditional belt that will last forever.

Not quite. In CA CCW without a permit is a wobbler. It can become a felony under certain conditions. Not being registered and during the commission of a crime to name a couple.

It’s only a wobbler if you’re not the owner of gun or you have a prior for violent crimes or drug possession. For the majority on here, it’s a misdemeanor. Most wobblers anyways are added for other crimes committed.

I just have a box with a cable that wraps around the seat leg and locks. If they're breaking in my truck, can cut the cable and break open the locked box they can have the gun. I've done my part.

Google just gives me a buffet to choose from. It’s up to me to determine the accuracy and value of any resource I chase down. Case in point: the first link in my above search, takes me directly to your reference.

No it doesn’t. There isn’t your truth. Just facts. Bad research is just bad research. Again that is an issue today, and why fact checkers are stupid. You can find anything to support your point of view, but in law, go to the source.

Here’s your wobbler, in a manner NOT left up to interpretation other than the courts. Not you, not me, not the cops.

    OP,

After you decide which carry method you are comfortable with, it is important that you occasionally practice drawing the weapon while seated in your truck. Point and aim while seated in the truck as well as practice exiting the truck with the weapon in your hand.

It is so important that you double and triple check to make sure the weapon is unloaded while practicing. We all know that, but still hear about people accidentally discharging what they thought was an unloaded weapon. And you need to be in a your garage or somewhere else that is not in public view!

Point being, you personally advocated for disregarding a stupid law and justified your decision by claiming it was only a misdemeanor. You completely disregarded what is in the actual text of the law and nonchalantly encourage others to do the same. But that is all off topic. We're talking about the manor in which a firearm is transported. A CCW provides exemptions to certain sections of the code but not all of it. Location of storage being the relevant section to this discussion. Center console vaults are great for securing valuables, but they do not meet the definition of a locked compartment in this crap hole state and potentially others.

To any who may read this thread. It behooves you to become familiar with the transportation laws in any jurisdiction you intend to travel.

I haven’t gotten my ccw yet (first gun this yr). I’m still looking for a holster on my setup (gun/laser) but feel the 4-5 o’clock would be my ideal spot personally (as of now). With that being said I’m not sure how comfortable it would be to keep holstered while driving so I have put in a Velcro panel on the inside of the console that I’ll have a separate holster for to stash while driving and I don’t think reholstering before exiting will be an issue. I didn’t want to drill into the dash/consoles so that’s why I went with the Velcro panel. And no I won’t leave it in the console when I leave the truck (I’ll find another solution to lock it if the situation requires, like under the seat lock box).

I've carried for a number of years and I have tried out many carry positions and I ultimately settled on 9 o'clock (lefty.)

    Something to consider.

Sure it can happen but if you can’t carry into a certain place on person then what others places can you secure it? Besides not carry that day for that 1 place
Unless I rearrange my personal effects 3 won’t work for me. I vape and have a belt holster I position at 3. It still maybe something I’ll have to reconsider, thanks.

I couldn’t remember where I got that Velcro panel but it is the mini pac mat from crossbreed. Hard plastic on 1 side I attached 3m adhesive sheet and obviously Velcro on the other side
