fruitcake.jpg fruitcake- 1.jpg Ths year we did something different for the Christmas season and gave out Fruitcake to all our freinds and relatives and even to those less fortunate. We made 43 Fruitcakes. This was quite the project and they came out great. We sent them from Eastern Canada to Western WA. and all over in between. The recipe is Alton Browns" Free Range Fruitecake" from The Food Network. We ommited boiling/ simmering the dried fruit and spritzing with Brandy for two weeks. but did do it twice for three days and we marinated the dried fruit in Bacardi Gold rum for 10+ days. I was not a big fan of Fruitcake, but this is the best I've ever had.

Looks really good. I don’t like fruit cake either but I’ve wanted to try the Alton Brown one or another I’ve seen on FoodTV made by nuns.

Those look great! I grew up in South Georgia, so was raised on Claxton Fruit Cake. But even I must admit that a little of that will do 'ya. Then I discovered the Italian Panettone about 30 years ago. I love that stuff!

Kudos to you for making and sharing those homemade Fruit Cakes. They look great, and I'm sure were enjoyed.

Where the hell is the pole? Because I'm total anti-fruitcake (the wife being pro), like some people are to cilantro.

The thing I know about fruitcake is the more booze you put in it, the more welcome it’s reception.

Don't skip the whiskey spritzing. It makes a horrible thing bearable.
