So I've been looking for an old toyota pickup 4wd for camping and short fun trips for the last few months to no avail at least in reasonable condition. However last week I saw a 1989 mighty max 4wd 5speed for 1200 bucks. Very little major rust and a complete blue interior.
Needles to say it was too good to pass up, now I just gotta fix the stupid timing chains. And fix some rust. 123,000 original miles and 1800$ worth of brake work last year. I hope it's not more broken than I think:rofl:IMG_20201223_133611505_HDR.jpg

It's a mitsubishi mighty max 4wd SPX. Basically SPX means it's the top trim model. I didn't know that they existed in the US till last week.

There was a 1986 Toyota 4x4 Omaha Craigslist last week. With a camper even. It looked more broken than asking price though. I have too many vehicles already, but...if not.. actually I have found another older 3/4 ton unicorn that may be for sale shortly. Holding out. Those old Mitsubishi run a long time.

This one definitely doesn't run, there is a reason it's 1200$. All the buyers who looked at before me thought it was knocking, but it just needs new chains and front of the motor rebuilt. Along with a ton of cosmetic and surface rust removal underneath.

There is a guy in Northern indiana with 7 running 3/4 ton 80s yotas. He's kinda nuts. Half of them are flatbeds.
His buddy has two, this is one of them.IMG_20190926_112218681.jpg

It's actually a mitsubishi, but marketed here at the dodge D50.

    It does have AC:bananadance:
Unknown if it works yet.... We'll see, a new compressor is 368$ so it will be running eventually. It at least turns so that's good.

Believe it or not parts are literally the cheapest I've ever seen. Timing is 45$..... But I'm gonna buy some extra stuff to make it 100$ even.
Trans bearing, seal, and syncros are 60$, and an engine gasket kit for all of them is 43$.
    And a clutch is 72$
I'll probably be 2k all in for parts plus supplies. Or at least that what I tell my wife....

As soon as I came find a spot to fix it I'll start:rofl:
I'm new to nashville so I don't got a house. I work at a local carwash with top industry talent so I didn't have much time to decide.
It's going back in indiana in a barn for a few months till it gets warmer down here in Tennessee.
