I just found out I have a nail stuck near the sidewall of my stock right rear tire. It's not going flat, but it may be a slow leak. Coincidentally, I have my 10k mile service this Wednesday.

Based on where the nail is near the sidewall, I'm sure they'll say it can't be repaired. I am planning on just having them replace the one tire. I can't imagine 9k miles of wear makes a significant enough difference to cause alignment issues, right?

In the future I wanted to change to a 265/75/16, but that would be after the stock tires wear out.

You could buy one new tire and also take the spare and use them on the same axle and then put the used on on the spare rim.

    I like this idea.

OP you may run into an odd exerience when going to 4x4, sometimes the rotational difference will interfere.

There is a quick, effective, and fun way to even that out...
