    Thanks. I guess we SR5 owners aren't worthy! ;)

I just installed this today using the instructions from page 1 on my 2021. Works like a charm.

Looks like the OE tail gate lock is worth the extra 30 bucks for all the gaskets and better wiring harness.
The dealer near me has it for 140$

I'll be watching the thread to see if you provide an update on this... if it's already further down the line, then I'll be buying the same kit if all goes well.

Are you guys using a torque wrench on the actuator bolt or just giving an ugga dugga? Another thread here where that bolt head was snapped off. I’m thinking of giving the bolt a bit of locktite and then just snugging it up good. The instructions give the value of 49 in lbs but doing the conversion on my ft lbs wrench that comes to 4 ft lbs, not sure if that’s correct or not. My wrench is a Harbor Freight special that I bought to install my bumper step, not sure if I trust it’s accuracy going down that low especially with a smaller bolt.

I thought that’s how I’d do it, mark the bolt head then take the panel off in a couple weeks to make sure that the bolt hasn’t moved. Just a thought.

Here’s that thread, hopefully someone can help out with directions to remove and reinstall the assembly.

That's the last thing I'd expect from Boch anything.

I just went a little further than snug. If it comes loose, the tailgate panel is easy enough to unbolt to re-tighten.

What are you wondering about? The OEM kit is straight forward and well designed.
All wiring is done by plugging in connectors; no splicing at all.
The wire harness even comes with the floor grommet already installed at the correct location.
If you're planning to add power gate lock, definitely go with the OEM kit.

4 foot lbs is probably less than one ugga dugga for an average adult male. A reasonable amount of caution is probably fine. I am an over thinker and this aspect felt entirely intuitive to me. I didn’t feel much of any need for a torque wrench on this one.

Thanks David, not fun snapping off a bolt head in a hard to reach area!

I'm the one who snapped the bolt. 100% of the rest of you will not snap the bolt. Still looking for instructions on removing the handle assembly. Please.

It works flawlessly...and the Toyota work instructions are spot on; you'll be happy with it I'm sure

No real questions, just to see if you had any additional commentary - negative or positive. The fact that the grommet is pre-installed at the correct location is a huge turn on... speaks a bit of the quality and value in OEM over anything else.

Just finished installing this. Ran out of daylight so putting on all the wire ties will have to wait until morning. I have to say, the OEM fit and finish and attention to detail for the kit and the instructions were great. Works perfectly, and its very quiet.

To add to my previous post. Had to finish up in the dark and the LED bed lights I recently installed came in super handy. And good lord are they bright!

FC010CB2-DDAB-42B4-AF85-D82D3AF430CC.jpg Anyone know what this harness is? Body grommet is occupied with that. Cut a slit next to it to feed tailgate harness through?

That grommet is larger than the one preinstalled on the tailgate harness but the one pictured is the one near the passenger seat unless I’m missing something
