BFG All-Terrains

Why is it you can get a FJ Cruiser and a Tundra with BFG All-Terrains, but we're stuck with these shitty Rugged Trails. WTF! I wish I had known how crappy they were before I bought my truck. I would've bitched enough to get the dealer to swap them out for A/Ts.

The 2011 TX package Tacoma's come with the BFG AT's if im not mistaken.

yea rugged fails suck, my friend had an 08 dbl cab and got stuck all the time in the soupy stuff while guys with older trucks and shitty at's had no problem

 

Less expensive truck, Less expensive tires. Its all about money. Stock tires on tacoma's truely do suck. Only good thing is that you dont mind tearing the shit out of them while youre getting youre allignment issues worked out after you lifted her.

 

Mine came with 267-70-17 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO's.



Had to order them with the truck. I think it depends on your dealer and how much they want to help.

My 99 came with 225/15 'Stones, which were a vibrating, rut seeking, POS 4 ply car tire. Ran them for about 5000 miles then went right to the 6 ply BFG all terrain's. Completely different truck once those were put on.

 

Probably cause they know people will still buy the Tacoma because its a popular truck. So they save money, knowing they will still sell.

 

Sell the stockers on Craigslist and buy new ones at Tire Rack.

Cause it's a light P rated tire so it looks like it gets better MPG. It's cheap so it keeps costs down and for tooling around the city it's perfect. Rides nicer than a BFG AT. You have to remember the Off Roading segment of Tacoma owners is actually very small. I'd say less than half of all TRDs see real off road conditions. For those who just use it to do mild trails and seek back spot camp sites the Rugged trails work fine and ride nice a quiet.

For the rest of us, we're going to switch the tires off anyways to what we want. Mudders, slicks (Werty style) you name it. So really it's good they put the Rugged fails on.

 

simple fix, go to tire shop and have them buy your oems while you upgrade to bfgs, will cost you less then going thru the dealership.

Are you sure you can get the A/T's? stock form the factory on FJ's and Tundra's? I was pretty sure it was the Ruggedfails on those too?
But I must agree that I don't get how they can put such a shitty tire on a"off road" vehicle. The 4runner Team Trails is a pricey off road ready power house but comes with car tires!!!??? For that kind of cash it should have something decent

 

I must agree with you 100%! The Ruggedtrail is a very common OEM truck tire that a lot of manufacturers use. It has decent tread, quiet, light it looks like an A/T tire (though its really not) and they must give the car companies a cheap deal on them because they are on everything!

 

There is so much truth in that. I didn't get an alignment for a while because I wanted it to settle as much as possible before so I rode on the shitty tires for a while with over a negative degree of toe. You should have seen those things after that and the back tires were pretty fucked but that wasn't because of alignment issues .
