    That is awesome!

I don't know nearly as much. I can show it to my buddy when I see him next.... have heard him mention Brunswick tokens before.

Either way that is a sweet token. Love the graphic and patina is spot on!

That name on it "f.s. jellerson" was likely the owner of the store, hotel, bar, etc...it could be used at. If you get more info post it up!

How can I explain this mass accumulation of contraband?
    Am I grandfather from prosecution?

I'm still a bit scared to post pix of and offer to sell said heirlooms.

Apparently, it originally was from an establishment in Glenbrook, NV, circa 1885? Pretty cool, wonder why it got lost in the first place? Apparently this one gets around, I found a couple more that were and are currently for sale online. Glenbrook was a timber town and its main business was to supply lumber to the mines in the late 1800’s. That’s a cool find!

From what I’ve heard and seen about what you guys do collect here, it’s apparent that you care about what and where you collect and it’s pretty cool knowing that people here are responsible about it. It’s important, as artifacts, especially prehistoric ones like arrowheads, tools and flakes, can provide details about trade between different tribal groups, their technology, etc., and also help in dating a site. Historic artifacts, like the tokens, can do the same but they also are part of a site’s character- once lost to private collectors, there is no longer any context to where they came from, and the site loses some of it’s character and historic value... that guy who was arrested a couple years ago for metal detecting at the Manzanar relocation camp site was one if the worse cases of this, as well as the looters and pot hunters who dig for artifacts from Native American prehistoric sites.

You are correct. The Glenbrook establishment was owned by F. S. Jellerson, the vendor on the token. Turns out that Brunswick & Balke promoted their pool tables and other wares via tokens. There are a variety of Brunswick tokens made for different vendors. This particular token is illustrated in the book Coins of the Comstock (F. Holabird) and is listed there as having been made between 1880-1884. I have no idea regarding value, but it's not too important as I don't plan to sell it. Value is just another interesting data point.

It’s a neat tolken, definitely a keeper as it has a backstory to it that is interesting. As for price point, it appears to be worth more than it’s weight in gold - but I wouldn’t sell it either, that’s your first one and a great find!

No really, look at how much it is selling for on eNay- I bet it weighs at least as much for the equivalent spot price for gold.
