Meanwhile, the folks that don't make appointments, just get squeezed in before those of us that do. This is usually how it works, service writers can't turn customers ($) away, so the folks that just drop by have the leverage.

Go to AutoZone (and some other Auto Parts Stores also), borrow their OBD2 Scanner, and use it to read your ECU ID (Calibration ID); which is found under the 'Vehicle Identification' menu.

    Then go here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/
And check the Spreadsheet to see if you have the latest Update for your 2017.

You may be referring to me (or not). Go back and read the posts of recent in this thread. I jacked this thread with reference to the 18 because I had the opportunity. It has nothing to do with the TSB designation for 19-20. Re-read my post and discern what I posted that is applicable to the 18 year make. The TSB 58 or the TSB 62 will work for your 18. The end result you are looking for is the calibration ID to be the latest ID number; also referenced in my post above. Best luck. Patience...

Interesting, but I suspect miscommunication and/or confusion. This stuff is a bit complicated and convoluted, and one can be easily confused.

Go to AutoZone (and some other Auto Parts Stores also), borrow their OBD2 Scanner, and use it to read your ECU ID (Calibration ID); which is found under the 'Vehicle Identification' menu.

Then come back and let us know what your ECU ID is.

You can be updated to 04A61 with the older TSBs. TSB-0092-20 is MY 2019 and 2020 only.

Get it straight from them....tons of Chinese cables and knock off Tactrix cables that could brick your ECU.

Hey guys! Forgive me if this is a shit for brains question.

I have a 19 taco going on Thursday for the fuel pump issue. They are giving me a loaner and saying it will take two days. Should I ask for this TSB update or do I need a song and dance about driving problems, etc! Thanks very much gents.

Definitely get the update. Just tell them the truck has always had wacky acceleration, hesitation and shifting issues.

Don’t take no for an answer.

Copy that, thanks very much. Would this issue be responsible for sometimes super fast speed when going from park to reverse or drive, with no gas pedal input?

My apologies. I should have mentioned this happens often while I’m playing Edward 40hands, and have a 40 duct taped to each hand.

Got the TSB this morning. It's glorious. Only took me two trips, and a complaint to Toyota Care. Definitely worth it, even if you have to do a little jig for it. Now I just have to figure out how to reverse the K0B recall.

So I finally got the TSB done thanks to contacting Toyota Care.

The difference is night and day. Best way to describe it, is the truck now feels unrestricted and less of a dead pedal. The responsiveness is great.

What happened the first trip and did they make you pay a diagnostic fee?

No. I think because I called to complain to Toyota Care. The service guy definitely hesitated making the tech do the TSB, but I reassured him that I would be happy with it (meaning I wouldn't come back saying I was unhappy).

Dropped my truck off for the 10k service today. I printed the TSB out and after initially getting a "they all do that, it's just how these trucks are" answer to hear hunting, I showed them the papers and they said they'd look at it. Got a call tonight that the service was done and they did the transmission update, so we will see tomorrow. I might take it to an AutoZone to confirm the updated config ID.

    For reference, I have a 2020 Tacoma SR5 that was a 3/20 build date.
