I know it sounds stupid but I’m trying to figure out since the bed is technically narrower in the bottom of it would possibly stack on top of the long bed attached to the truck and be able to be strapped down with the trail gate down if I took the bedsides, filler tube and tailgate off. Anyone tried this to transport it?

I feel like that would be a bitch to strap down to where it wouldn’t slide at all during transport. Other option I thought is possibly putting it sideways but not sure if it would collapse on itself on bumps

    Borrow or rent a trailer.

This will avoid the risk of buggering your bed or the donor bed.

It is $50 but I have to take a ferry to cut the the time in half and a ferry ride with a uhaul is over $50 one way. Without it it’s like $20

Borrow a 4x8 utility trailer. Get a buddy to help you put the trailer in the bed of your truck. Ride the ferry. Collect the donor bed, unload the trailer from your truck, load the donor on the trailer. Ferry back, cost $30 more.

Or load the donor in your bed, fengle a strap down, hope it won't shift and bugger your bed or the donor.

Seems to me, the ferry cost is a sunk cost. You have to pay it regardless of the hauling choice.

2x4s perpendicular to the bed rail then strap it down.

Could also utilize the 4 tie down points on each bed. Strap it on opposite corners.

Probably just going to end up doing the trailer if no one wants and bring it home and sell it later
